  NFS Client on Vista

Author: harold
Date: Jul 19, 2008 12:32

Hi,

What are my options are far as mapping Windows users to UNIX users for NFS?
Is there any way to do local user name mapping? I don't want to have to set
up a server to do authentication if I don't have to...

Thanks,
Harold

  Server for NFS Help!!!

Author: tszatny
Date: Jul 18, 2008 06:46

I have been running Server for NFS for over a year now. About every 5-7 days
the Service seems to become unresponsive. I start noticing "Unable to Update
Mapping" errors in Event Viewer. If I try to restart the Service, the
Service Hangs and then the OS (2003 ST. R2) becomes unresponsive. This would
leave me to beleive this is not a mapping problem (don't use the mapping
anyway), but it is a problem with the Service. Once the Server is rebooted,
it runs without problem for another 5-7 days. I have tried to run this
Service on 3 different Servers with the same result.

Currently Using:

MS 2003 Server ST. R2

Server for NFS 3.0

Any ideas?

  Hiding dot files....

Author: Windoze

Does anyone know how to hide the dot files when using the SFU NFS
client? This works great, I just don't want users to "accidentally"
delete their important Unix files!

  NIS password sync problem

Author: Marcus
Date: Jun 20, 2008 02:50

Hi all,

I have set up a domain controller (w2k3 standard) with active directory and
installed the sfu 3.5.
I migrate a list of users from our old nis to the new windows nis.
Anything is up and running, login from unix works.
The only problem is that if a user changes his password on the windows side,
the password is not synchronized with the nis.
If I go to the attribute editor, the msSFU30Password is always the default
key ABCD!efgh12345$67890.
Any idea how I can get this working?

Thanks,

Marcus
