permissions for shared calendars in outlook 2003.

Author: Sam Wishka

Hi,

I'm trying to get our domain group policy to set the permissions for shared
calendars in outlook 2003.
We're on windows 2000 server for our DC and I haven't seen any relevant
policy options there. I've checked the administrative templates for outlook
2003 also to no avail.
It seems that I can force just about every setting except this one.

To reach the setting to which I'm referring, I open my calendar, then on the
left pane I right-click on "calendar" under "my calendars."
The option can be reached by choosing Change Sharing Permissions or by
selecting properties, then Permissions. Am I misguided in thinking
that I can set the values for domain users so that certain domain users have
specific privileges?

Thanks,
Sam

Hi

Update the internet explorer with INTERNET EXPLORER 8 BETA version. If you
are having updated internet explorer.Start the internet explorer without add
on.
Here's how you can disable all addons/extensions and run IE 7 or even IE 8
without them:
a.. Go to Start > Run
b.. Type iexplore -extoff
c.. Press Enter

or Remove the unwanted addon dll file using the link.

Users not showing in User Accounts

Author: Stewart Leslie
Date: Sep 18, 2008 09:46

Hi,

I'm haveing a bit of a problem with the User Accounts Function on Vista
Ultimate x64, for some reason I cant see any users in the Manage other
accounts option, even when I'm logged in as the administrator.

I've got a few accounts already set up, and logging into them is not a
problem, but also I am unable to set up new accounts.

I'm not sure when the problem first started, only that I've recently noticed
it (I rarely need to go into the user accounts, and very rarely need to go in
on the admin account).

Has anyone else having this sort of problem and managed to find a solution?

Thanks

Leythos - I've seen all your fights with pcButts et al.

Please explain why you didn't direct the original poster, VJS, to cnet/Download.com, which is
advertised as *the* download site on the Malwarebytes web site http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Surely if the staff at Malwarebytes deem it satisfactory, that will be better than going through a
third party? I agree that VJS should try the facility, but I'd recommend he go here:-
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

You said yourself "Always remember - only download files from Trusted Sites"
Are you 100%% certain that BleepingComputer.com can be trusted?
If so ......... just *how* do you know?

TIA

Dave

Trend Micro Antivirus Definitions Crash Computers

Author: kalyan
Date: Sep 16, 2008 23:50

Flawed malware definitions released by Trend Micro crippled users' computers

The antivirus definitions released by Trend Micro Inc. for several of its
products on September 5 caused computers to become unstable or unusable. The
definitions falsely identified vital system files on both Windows Vista and
Windows XP computers as malware, and added them to quarantine. Upon
rebooting, this situation left computers unstable or unable to boot into the
operating system.

he updates were issued for the Trend Micro AntiVirus, Internet Security and
Internet Security Pro products, and identified several system files as
Troj_Generic or Troj_Generic.ADV. Amongst the legit files falsely identified
as malware were Windows Vista's Network Location Awareness 2 Service
(nlasvc.dll), the Win32 Cabinet Self-Extractor (wextract.exe) or the OpenSSL
Library (libeay32.dll)

  Windows Firewall Exceptions

Author: Jo-Anne

I have two computers, both running WinXP SP3. To enable printer sharing
through a wireless router between my desktop computer and my new notebook
computer, I had to checkmark "File and Printer Sharing" in the Windows
Firefall Exceptions list on the new computer. (I'm using Norton on the old
one, and I added the IP address of the new computer to its Firewall.)

When I looked at the Exceptions list, I noticed that, by default, most of
the Exceptions are checked: CyberLink PowerDVD DX, CyberLink PowerDVD DX
Resident Program, Network Diagnostics for Windows XP, and Remote Assistance.
The only unchecked items are Remote Desktop and UPnP Framework.

One of the recent newsgroup posts mentioned that there should be no
Exceptions checked, since they all compromise security. Are there any items
I can uncheck without losing functions that I need for operating the new
computer and sharing printers and files with the old one? I use the Internet
and email a lot on both computers.

Thank you!

Jo-Anne
