Is "Preview" safe for OL 2003 email ?

Years ago I read that it was not safe to leave the "Preview" setting on for
email as some virus could execute upon either normaly opening the email or
even if you just had preview on...

Is this still true?

(Even though I don't like to leave Preview on... I wanted to know the latest
on this.)

Thanks for any help.

No it isn't. (I say this for anyone using Microsoft Outlook 2000 with
Service Pack 2 or newer)

The preview pane is quite safe - slightly safer than opening the message to
read it. See http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2008/up080612.htm#1.
