sending distribution list to someone else

I have read the emails about how to send a distribution list from outlook to
someone else but still having problems. I have sent an email in rich text
format and sent the list out of Outlook 2003 to my personal email address
which is outlook 2007 as well as copying myself with the email address I am
sending from. When I go to open the email in my personal outlook, I get an
empty file as an attachment or just the name of the file in the body. But if
I open the email from the email address I am sending from, all is fine and it
is working, I see the email distribution list when I click on the file.

What exactly am I doing wrong. I'm trying to help someone else but am
testing how to do it on my own outlook before sending to my friends.

Thanks in advance for this help and the help everyone continues to offer
others!

Meg

Hard to say what you are doing wrong because we don't know what you're
doing: "sent the list out" means what exactly?
You must insert it as an Outlook Item in the RTF message, not attach it as a
file. What mail account type are you using? Have you disabled all email
scanning?

I am trying to send a distribution list with name and email addresses. I am
starting with an email formatted as RTF and using the attach item to attach
the list to the email. I have my virus scan off. I am sending from
microsoft outlook 2003 to outlook 2007.

Did I cover your questions?

Thanks for such a quick response.

Yes, I am using attach item. I'm not sure what you mean by mail account
type, would you explain further?

Thanks again,

Meg

I think this is what you are asking. I am sending from a Microsoft exchange
server to a POP account.

AD. My two friends were getting this same result which is why I got
involved. I tested doing it from my address book and got the same result as
well. A third friend did a test himself and got the same result. I saw
another person's posting back in 2006 who was getting the same result.

Thanks again.

I give up. I don't know what you mean by your address book. There is no
address book in Outlook.

I used your own terminology "I cannot reproduce your problem, and I've seen
no one else who has.
Is this DL in your mailbox or the AD? "

contact list is where the distribution list is. I have now sucessfully sent
an email from my outlook at home to my outlook at work and it is correct so
the problem appears to be sending from microsoft exchange server.

I am obviously testing your patience so thank you for trying to help me.
