Need to restore contacts from one drive to another

I want to import contacts from a .pst file located on one drive into outlook
2003 on another drive, but on the same machine. I do not use Outlook to
send/receive email. I only use Outlook to store my contacts.

Windows XP had become unstable, so I I retired the old drive and installed
XP on a new and bigger drive. However, I kept the old drive and made it a
secondary drive because it still had files and data that I had not backed up.
Now I'm ready to import my Outlook contacts from the old drive to the new
one. I have located the .pst file on the old drive in the following location:

Outlook F:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

I have not set up MS Outlook on the new drive, so it is a blank slate. How
do I go about importing the contents of the .pst file on drive F:\ into MS
Outlook on drive C:\ ?

Importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. The correct way
is posted here daily. Can you not read the other posts here?

I'm disappointed with your response. Perhaps you're tired and had a long
day, or there may be other issues causing you frustration. However, my post
does not deserve a rude response.

Yes, I have read plenty of other posts with similar issues. However, I'm
not confident or sophisticated enough to do this on my own and without help.
Hence, the reason I posted here. Perhaps someone else will be more inclined
and better suited to offer some basic assistance.

Since you have a copy of your old PST file readily available already on your
machine AND going on the assumption that you did not deviate in any way in
terms of outlook PST file name etc - then this would be the simplest
solution for you:

#1 - Install Outlook on your system - it will create a new PST file using
the same overall path to the file except instead of it being on the "F"
drive - it will be created on your default drive (generally your "c" drive -
ergo C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook"
#2 - Close Outlook
#3 - Copy your .pst file from "F" drive to same location on "C" drive
#4 - open Outlook and you should be all set to go

In the off chance that the above doesn't work for some reason, find out why
but would strongly advise AGAINST using "import" to get your data from your
old PT file to your new pst file. Absolutely not necessary and ill-advised.

As posted here many many times - that is one of the ways to corrupt the mail
profile.

Outlook already existed on drive C:\. However, there were no contacts or
anything else, as I had not completed the setup process with the wizard
because I did not want to use it for email. So, I skipped #1-2 and copied
the .pst file from drive F:\ to C:\ . When I opened Outlook I was pleased to
see that my contacts and data were there. All seemed fine for a few minutes,
then I noticed two things. 1. Instead of one PST file, suddenly there were
two identifical PST files. 2. i could not open the address book.

After reading Gordon's post about a corrupt mail profile, I attempted to
create a new profile by following the steps outlined at
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/profile.htm I only deviated by not
establishing an email account. However, something dreadful has happened
because now I cannot even open Outlook.

The situation has suddenly gone from bad to worse. What to do now?
