Email property display names changed by incoming emails

I am having problems with incoming emails overriding my contacts' display
names in their properties.

A hypothetical example:
My friend's property display name is Lora NY. I get an incoming email that
is also copied to my friend. The sender of the incoming email uses the
display name of Lovely Lora for my friend. The next time I send an email my
friend, her display name is now set to Lovely Lora.

This drives me insane. When searching in the SENT folder, the emails to her
no longer sort together because of the different display name. Is there any
way to stop incoming email properties from overriding my contact's display
names?

Information that would permit someone in this newsgroup to help you:
1. Outlook version
2. What you mean by "their properties"
2. Whether you have enabled autocompletion
3. Mail account type
4. How you select recipients for your mail messages
5. Why you think the display name is of consequence

Here is some info:

1. Outlook version:
Office / Outlook 2003 SP3

2. What you mean by "their properties":
If you right click on the email address and select 'properties' you see the
display name and email address fields. These are what I'm referring to as
properties.

2. Whether you have enabled autocompletion:
my email field auto fills when I begin typing my contact of choice

3. Mail account type:
POP3

4. How you select recipients for your mail messages:
I begin typing the contact's email address in the TO field and it auto fills.

5. Why you think the display name is of consequence:
I go back through my history of sent and deleted emails a lot looking for
information or answers. When sorting these folders, the emails do not sort
together if the display name has been changed...making it difficult to find
what I need quickly or at all.

Then you are talking about your autocompletion cache. Simply receiving an
email will in no way reset your autocompletion cache. Replying to a
recipient from a received email will. So something in your claim does not
fit.
Why can't you just sort your Sent Items folder by a field more relevant than
the Display Name?

Here's what I believe is happening. Your Contact record for this person
says "Lora NY" and when you send a message, that's what you see for the
Display Name. The entry for "Lora NY" is stored in your...
