opening many shared calendars fails

Date: May 20, 2008 04:34

Hi.
We are experiencing that when a user opens more than about 70 calendars
Outlook fails with a message like "the information store could not be
opened".
This is Outlook 2003 SP2.
Has anybody else seen this, or know a fix for it?

Best regards,
Rasmus

I don't know if they tested it with that many. Are they opening them as
secondary mailboxes or using file, open, other users... ?

They are opened using File / Open / Other users.
The full error message is "Unable to display the folder. The information
store could not be opened."

Actually we found the problem because we have an app which reads all
calendars (using the COM interface to Outlook) and it fails when it reaches
about 70. So we reproduced the problem by manually doing the same thing. For
some reason the COM interface adds the calendar folders in the "People's
Calendars" list in the left side of Outlook.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Rasmus

AFAIK there is no way to avoid the error, short of having the addin get the
data it needs then close the calendars, but you should check in the
outlook.program_vba group - they might have some ideas.
