I've looked through all these posts - is Microsoft going to realise that the
reason everyone is asking why they can't change the default reminder to
something other than 18 hours is because they want to?? And that software is
supposed to do what we want it to do?? Is there a chance that when I get
Outlook 2007 it will allow me to change the default for an all day event?
(this also seems to be what everyone else wants). Or should we just all go
out and buy an Apple in the hope that they care about their users more than
Microsoft?
Living in hope.

outlook 2007 does not allow you to choose a default reminder time for all
day events. Enjoy your apple. :)

Let me get this straight, you are going to drop 2-3 thousand dollars on
an Apple computer and software on the remote possibility that you might
be able to "adjust" a particular default reminder?

This was never a problem for me as my PC was usually off at 6am. I now use a
Windows Mobile 6.1 phone with ActiveSync and I use the phone as an alarm
clock. It is annoying to be woke up by a reminder at 6am, an hour before my
alarm goes off. I even get woken up on a weekend when I need a lie in!! For
some reason it never did this on my Windows Mobile 2003SE phone. I have a
lot of planned events in the future and am loathed to have to go through my
Calendar for the forseeable future to change my reminders from 18 hours to
0.5 day. Poor planning on a planning application but certainly not enough to
convert to Apple.

Seriously, the first post about this is from 2005, and Micro$oft is still
not looking at fixing it, or offering a patch for it?! Seems to me like the
Outlook development team don't sync to their phones or PDA's at all, because
if they did, they would sure fix it fast after being woken up at 6:00AM on a
few mornings because of this stupid setting!!!

How about doing a Google search for: Outlook / all day / 18 hour and see the
*MANY* other people out there upset about this too!

Please look to fix this soon - my kids and I are fed-up with early morning
alarms...

When Outlook was first conceived there were very few people using Activesync
with their mobile phones / PDAs etc. so there would not have been many people
getting disturbed by their PCs alarming at 6:00 am. Now that there are many
people synchronising their calendars onto the Windows Mobile devices that
they keep beside their beds at night I would think that there are a lot of
very frustrated people out there silently cursing Outlook .

People use the most convenient feature of their software and double clicking
to set up an All Day Event (for say a Birthday, or a day out of the office)
is the quickest, simplest thing to do. As it's quick and simple most people
won't spend the time looking through all of the options to change the
reminder time for the Event. Since the principle of configurable reminders
has been set for apointments can we not have an update to make Event
reminders configurable and to save a lot of cursing at 6:00 am each time the
alarm for a next day Event goes off ?
