Searching user defined fields

Is it possible to search user defined fields in BCM 2007? These fields have
been imported from an ACT database, and my customer used to search by these
fields in ACT.

Any ideas?

The fields are

Call Back Date
Out of Contract
Telephone number
Confirmer
Account Manager
Mobile number
Company name
Address (town/city)
Post code

I know this isn't really an answer, but at least half of those fields
(telephone number, mobile number, company name, address, and post
code) don't have to be user-defined, as there are pre-existing (and
searchable) fields for that information.
