Scanning into OneNote and having catalog abilities

I'm really happy with the way OneNote 2007 has progressed. I am using it to
organize many of my client/business files/information. However, one thing
that I am having a hard time with is scanning documents. Let's say I have a
contract that I want to scan in. First, I'd have to use another program to
create a file (rather than just scan printouts directly into OneNote). I
would mainly opt for creating a PDF file. Now, when I do import a PDF file,
there's just a PDF image. If I want I can insert Print Outs of the pages,
however, they are inserted one after another. I guess I could mannually
overlay the pictures, or is there another way to do this? Either that or do
you suggest I just Print Out the first page? While I could type in a
description of the document next to the PDF image...

I agree with EMRhelp.org. It seems to me that this is another example of
trying to get OneNote to do more than what it was designed to do. You
would be much better off keeping your notes about the clients in OneNote
but keeping all those documents in a real document management program.
Some of those programs let you create shortcuts to the documents stored
in them. You could then paste those shortcuts into the appropriate page
in OneNote for quick access. Then they would be searchable. Remember,
when you insert a document as an icon on a OneNote page then those
documents aren't searchable.

Sometimes, when I have a lot of documents associated with a particular
OneNote Section, I will just copy those documents to the same folder that
the Section is stored in. Then I create a hyperlink to...

WHen you press the "Scan" button on your scanner, do you get a dialog that
comes up asking you where you want to scan it to? If so, is OneNote in that
dialog? It should be, and then you can choose it and scan directly into
onenote. If it isn't there, try going to onenote, Insert> Pictures> From
camera or scanner... That should allow you to scan directly into onenote.
If not, please let me know.
