ON2007 - How many files have been inserted?

Hello team,

Is there a way to calculate how many files have been inserted on ON2007
until now?
If I go to “Properties” from the folder destination where all my notebooks
are being storage, the amount of files which come up does not correspond with
the reality.
(e.g. if it indicates 1,086 files, the reality is 100 files approx).

How can I get an accurate count of my files?
Again, thanks in advance

You can look in a (hidden) folder named C:\Users\...your user
name...\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0\OneNoteOfflineCache_Files

It shows all the embedded files there. This is from a Vista machine.
Windows XP will use a similar path. Something like C:\Documents and
Settings\John\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0\OneNoteOfflineCache_Files.

Hello John, I was not aware that all inserted files have been storage in that
location; which give me a satisfaction since I have been doing some rework
through a different way (just in case).
I have never had a concern about a limit amount of files to upload since the
limit is my C:/ free space, at least I am assuming that.

Could you please be so kind confirming this to me?
Thanks!

That's effectively true - you're limited to your free space on your C:
drive. One caveat: The file system your drive is formatted with (FAT32,
NTFS, etc) may impact it a bit, but only for fairly extreme numbers of
files.

Hello Ben, thanks for your note

I am not sure if I understood your caveat, are you saying that for an
extreme number of files I should format my drive? Thanks!

Is it possible to move the location of the offline cache? We have very
strict limits on our profile directory - only 20mb - and the files in the
cache add considerably to space taken up by the profile.

If there was a way to move the location I'd be able to avoid filling up my
quota AND be able to back up the location (is this even necessary?).

Ok I found it. You can change the cache location in Tools -> Options ->
Save. There's a warning though on that page, so pay attention :)

No, I'm just saying that if you have a really extreme number of files (tens
of thousands) it may make a difference if the drive is formatted FAT or NTFS
or whatnot.

If you really had to you could convert it TO NTFS non-destructively. But
there's a good chance it already is NTFS.

And it won't matter much if you're only talking about a few hundred files.
