The main reason why I want to use Google search is because I can have it
search my Web cache/history. It looks like Windows Search can not do that.
The box for the location of the cache files is greyed out so that folder can
not be searched. Otherwise I don't have many issues with Windows search.

Hmmm...well, can't help you there. It could be there's a way to
configure WDS to search the web cache/history but I'm not a WDS expert.
You might ask in one of the newsgroups for your operating system.
