Flag Summary in OneNote 2007

I really prefered the way the Flag Summary worked in 2003.

I would create a summary page based on title and the flagged notes would be
in generally the same order that I took them or close enough. I would
publish all of the notes to a SharePoint Services site. I then would email
the summary page as the body of an email message from within OneNote,
including a link to the full notes.

Having the summary page sorted alphabetically and not being able to email
the summary in the body of an email message is, IMHO, a backward step.

I really do like the new table features and the ability to group sections.

Just look down at the bottom of the tag summary pane. There is a button
that lets you create a summary page.

I can create the summary page, but I can't email it as the body of a message.
Emailing wants to create dual attachments of both OneNote and single web
page. Cutting and pasting does not maintain the same formatting and does not
include the flags.

Are you trying to use the features within OneNote to send the e-mail? I
have never been a big fan of using internal features to send e-mails so I
don't have much experience with this.

I tried it and I think the problem is with the way OneNote 2007 creates
the e-mail page rather than with the way it creates summary pages. The
summary page, once created, is just another OnenOte page. I tried opening
the .MHT file and copying and pasting the contents into the message but
it then wouldn't display the picture. I noticed that the .MHT file was
basically nothing more than a big picture of the OneNote page which I
think is kind of lame.

Perhaps if you saved the summary page as a >MHT file separately, then
copied and pasted the gigantic picture into your e-mail it would work.

The idea is to send the highlights in the body of the email message so that
it is easily seen without having to open any attachments.

Internal hooks when they work are great time savers and shows good
integration between products.

The whole point was to have the highlights of the notes visible in the body
of the message and if anyone was interested in additional details they then
could go to link for the whole thing.

Can you send me one of those emails? I am curious to see what it looks
like. You can get my email from my website.

Thanks,

Gotcha. Well you may have to use a workaround of some sort or another. If
you don't need too much of it to be in the e-mail then perhaps you could
just paste a screen clipping directly into an e-mail. This would give you
about the same effect since an .MHT file of a OneNote page is not much
more than a big picture anyway.
