Cache Default File Location

While installing the program yesterday, I inadvertantly moved the
cache file. I meant to move only the notebook and unfiled notes files
and backup to more secure locations on a different logica drive. My
bad. I realized my mistake almost immediately, but couldn't undo it.
I would like to move the cache back to OneNote's preferred location
for sync between my desktop and laptop.

Where does OneNote 2007 want the cache? I'm also finding the program
doesn't want show on its tabs, the personal notebooks I've created.
Thank you for any help.

By default, the cache is in "C:\Documents and Settings\\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0".

Can you go to File->Open->Notebook and open the notebooks?

Ilya: in my configuration, there is no "username." There is either
Administrator or All Users. Which would be the preferred location as
far as OneNote is concerned? OneNote will never be shared and will be
run on my personal desktop and laptop computers. Only the laptop will
ever be in an unsecured location (research library secured via cable).

If you're logged on (or have it configured to auto log on) to your
computer as Administrator, go ahead and use Administrator.

What is the error message that you get when you try to open the notebooks?

Glad to hear that you're on your way to enjoying OneNote!

Ilya -- just a question for my understanding: if she had simply deleted or
moved the cache file, couldn't she have just pointed OneNote to her
notebooks? Would she have to worry about finding the cache file and
'returning' it to the default location? Woudn't OneNote simply re-create the
cache from the notebooks?

Yes, the cache would have been re-created, but at the location specified
in the options dialog. Since the goal here was to change the location
where OneNote stores the cache, that needed to be changed in the options
dialog as well.
