Vista/Office 2003 destroys pdf files

I have upgraded (?) to Vista and reinstalled my Office 2003 for email. For
some reason all incoming pdf files are converted to code in the body of the
email. I even changed my Internet security program and still the pdf files
are converted to code.

Is there any security setting to allow pdf files?

I subscribe to a service that sends me pdf files of information daily and I
have been unable to read them since the upgrade. Any ideas?

Yes but the files are destroyed before I can even attempt to open them.

Disable any email scanning function your AV program has and see if that
helps.

No luck there. I was convinced it was my AV so I uninstalled McAfee and went
out and bought Trend Micro. I have the same problem with each of them.
Enabled or disabled.

Sorry about that. It would be more appropriate to say disassembled into
computer code rather than destroyed. A pdf file might be converted into a
hundred lines of code. As an example, one line is:
JVBERi0xLjUNJeLjz9MNCjE4IDAgb2JqIDw8L0xpbmVhcml6ZWQgMS9MIDc2MTA2L08gMjIvRSA0

Which version of the Adboe Reader do you use? I'd suggest posting your
question in the Adobe newsgroups. They are *real* active over there and I'm
sure someone over there can help. They don't have "MVPs" but some of those
folks could easily be MVPs.

I have the latest version, downloaded over the weekend. I don't believe
adobe has anything to do with the problem. This is why: The pdf files are
deconstructed in the email process. The attachments are destroyed and the
code shows up in the message. This all happens before Adobe launches.

If pdf files are transferred to the computer using any other method than
email I have no problems at all. All old pdf documents and ones transferred
by flash drive, CD-ROM etc. function without any problems.

I have the same copy of Office 2003 on my XP machine so I don't think that
is the problem. My old XP machine can download emailed pdf files without
incident. If I email them to the new machined they are deconstructed. If I
move them over with a flash drive there is no problem.

There must be a security setting in Vista that is deconstructing these. I
cannot find an appropriate menu to check it though. It is the last
incompatibility with Vista I am trying to resolve.

My previous response did not directly answer your question. I did post my
question in the Adobe group over the weekend and I have not had any responses
yet. :(
