OUTAGE: MSN is transferring Email and Authentication Servers

Author: Douglas J. Badin
Date: Dec 26, 2008 14:53

Staring this morning, I could not send or receive email with my msn account.

A MSN Email Chat Support professional said they are transferring to a new
secured server and it could take up to 10 days to before my service is
restored.

They also said nothing is posted about this issue.

OIC. I don't do ISP software. Their CDs do make wonderful coasters, though.
Not so sure it would be environmentally safe to use them in place of clay
pigeons for trap, or skeet, though.

Donna

Sympatico does install it when you run their install disk. It has to be activated
with MSN which you probably did not know or do. I just checked the Sympatico install
disk that I have here and MSN mail is on it.

How exactly are you doing the shortcut to the Desktop. Can you post it exactly the
steps you take to do it . Please

Yep, and external (POP3) support is enabled only on one of my five Hotmail
accounts - you have removed it from all the others. Congrats! ;)

Donna, your poassword is not stored in the icon. You can change icons a
zillion times - but the password will not get erased. It is stored
elsewhere.

If, what is most likely, the icon you are referring to is a big blue "e"
icon - that is, a shortcut to the program called Microsoft Internet
Explorer - then once you open that program click Tools - Internet Options -
Delete.

If this is a butterfly icon, it is a shortcut to a program called MSN
explorer. After you open it, look for an option of "signing out", or
somewhere to remove "automatic sign-in".

Never EVER post your real email address in a public newsgroup or forum!

Right click on Desktop, choose New > Shortcut.
"Type the location of the item", "www.hotmail.com"
"Type a name for this shortcut", "Hotmail"
It's a white document icon shortcut with a big blue "e" in the middle of it.
Is this what you are talking about? Because I just created one of these and
I have no trouble changing the icon in Right Click, Properties, Change Icon.

Hotmail is not "installed". Hotmail is a web page and I created a
"Shortcut" to that web page which actually starts up Internet Explorer
directed to load "www.hotmail.com". Is this what you are talking about or
something else?

You could also put "www.hotmail.com" in your browser Favorites. Lots of
people are happy with that.
