can't connect to server problem with office for mac 2004 updates

Author: victor quest

My machine is a 2.4 GHz Intel chip Macbook Pro 15", running OS 10.5.4

Lately I have "server must be busy or there might be a problem with your
internet connection" error message when using auto-update on Office for Mac
2004 v.11.3.8

Also, when i go to Mactopia site all of the "download" links on the various
update pages result in "can't find the server" messages.

This is frustrating. I recently updated same version of office 2004 on my
macbook. Is this only a problem with macbook pros?

  Office 2004 updates stopped working

My machine is a 2.4 GHz Intel chip Macbook Pro 15", running OS 10.5.4

Lately i've had "server must be busy or there might be a problem with
your internet connection" error message when using
auto-update.

The Microsoft site recommends web based updates if auto-update doesn't work.

Unfortunately going to the "Microsoft Download Center: Microsoft Office 2004
for Mac" page links to a number of update versions (supposedly), but when i
go the pages and hit the "download" button i get...
"Safari can’t open the page
“http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/8/c/88cb86c3-7f73-4c54-a3e6-ef46336ccd79/Office2004...”
because

it can’t find the server “download.microsoft.com”."

Similar "can't find server" messages no matter which update i choose. So
much for web-based downloads as a way to get around the problem.

Has anyone found a way around this?

Also...I have successfully updated my macbook, also Intel and same
clock speed that's running the same OS and office version. Is this only
a problem with the macbook pros?

Thanks, vq

I can not get passed the update telling me to "close" the CLOSED Word
program. Rebutted and tried again - same problem. And they said the Mac is
easier than the PC - or is it the MS affect that carries over?

No Exchange no MAC's on different subnet

Hi

We have Windows 2003 server and Exchange 2003 (all patched up) and some
Tiger Mac's with Entrouage 2004.

The Mac's have now moved to our new second office, and are on a different
subnet now (10.0.1.0). Though they can ping the Excahnge server and the DC on
the original subnet (10.0.0.0), I jsut cannot get Entorage to link up with
Exchange.

Currently users are having to use OWA as a work around.

All other things seem to work OK.

Any ideas please? Do I need some sort of route command?

TIA

Lewej

Bluetooth/wireless mouse and keyboard on the Windows side

Author: jspeedy33

I've followed Apple's directions on the setup of the wireless mouse and
keyboard on the Windows side, but for some reason I have no function of
either device. Does anyone have a secret that I don't know about, or could
you provide me with the steps you took to make yours work? And, if and when
we get it working, will it be available immediately on re-entry into the
Windows side or will we have to set it up every time?

Hi,

Is there anyone out there actually able to access Windows Vista internet via
Boot Camp on iMac7, Leopard? If so ho did you manage it? I just installed my
Windows Vista onto iMac 7 with Boot Camp assistant. All went well but my
internet. I'm able to my belkin router but when I tried to connect, it said
something about "unknow error"?. It works well when I switched back to my
normal Mac. But Windows just wouldn't connect in.
I notice that there's a few people had the same issue as mine. Did they ever
resolve it? if so how did you manage it? Please give me some advices. I need
help Sooo badly. Many thanks.
