I would like to know how to see a Stack Back Trace in Vista.
Crash "signatures" consisting of nothing but the crash offset
in normally robust modules don't seem very helpful to me.

Any pattern in the Error Signature?
> It could be a stack flow problem on my end,

Indeed, so you could also look at a Stack Back Trace
for each crash, looking for patterns there. I understand
that drwtsn32.log may not exist in Vista though, so I don't
know where you are supposed to go now to get the equivalent
diagnostic. You might at least be able to get a list of the
loaded modules for a crash if it occurs while you are tracing
with ProcMon.

FWIW I haven't seen any reports of this.

Forwarding to IE Beta NG. Hint: use the newsgroup name in the header
of this response to enter that newsgroup. However, I'm not sure if your
"newsreader" (the Communities web interface) actually supports Followup-To.

Where do you do that? ; )

FWIW there are at least two things that I know you would
have to do in Windows Live Mail (not sure about WM,
since I don't use Vista.)

1. On the Options General tab you have to have checked
Use newsgroup Communities support features
2. You have to be signed in with a Live Id, e.g. as seen
on the Connection tab and also at the right of the toolbar

Not enough information. Describe the dialog box more.
What exactly does the message say?

Also, does your symptom occur in No Add-ons Mode?
E.g. start IE by Run... (press Win-R) and enter:

iexplore.exe -nohome -extoff

Then close it. Do you still get a prompt from a debugger then? ; )

  IE8, JScript, and JavaScript

Author: Nathan Sokalski

As we all know, IE has always used JScript instead of JavaScript in the
past. One of the things that I have always had to make the most differences
for between pages designed for IE and other browsers is the scripts.
However, with the main goal of IE8 being to make everything more standards
compliant, I was wondering the following:

Will IE8 be using JScript, JavaScript, or will they make it dependent upon
the type attribute of the script tag (or being specified somewhere else in
the file)?

If I were to make this decision, I would do something similar to what they
are doing with the rendering engine, such as the following:

Use standard JavaScript as the default, but give the option of using JScript
if a predetermined tag is included.

That could be a symptom that you are running something in normal mode
which is interfering. You could try using Task Manager, Process Explorer
or even tasklist (in a cmd window) to capture a list of active processes
each time and figure out which ones aren't being run in safe mode.
Then try preventing them from running in normal mode and see if that
changes your symptom.
> I tried unistalling and installing 3 times.

That would be testing the hypothesis that you had an installation problem. ; )
> I use Windows Live One Care as my only firewall - any ideas?

Perhaps that is what wouldn't be running in safe mode?

Try asking Live One Care NG if there are any diagnostics in it
which would help clarify how far IE's requests are getting?
