We currently have an instance of MCMS2002 as our external web site using a
separate back-end (SQL 2000). In preparation for a hardware upgrade, we'd
like to be able to migrate our existing instance over to another server (both
the front-end and the back-end) and move from SQL2000 to SQL2005.
In order to accomplish this (and deal with other services we'll be moving as
well), we need to move either the front-end or the back-end to free up a
server so we can use the freed up box as a "leap frog" machine while swapping
services around (we're limited right now in the number of available machines
for the moves).
My question(s) is which would be better to move first, and how? Is it
easier to move the front-end to another web server, or is it easier to move
the back-end, and if the back-end, is there any issues with moving from
SQL2000 to SQL 2005? Will MCMS support SQL2005?
We're eventually going to be moving away from MCMS to a better CMS system,
but for now we need to keep the existing system, but move it to new servers.
Is there any documentation on how to move the front-end and/or the back-end?
Any help/advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,
- Dink

Hi
We have an existing CMS site (call it www.sitea.com) but now the business
wants to host a second CMS site under a different url (call it www.siteb.com)
which accesses the same MCMS root channel, content, etc. The only difference
between the two CMS .Net web applications would be the branding/styling.
IIS isn't my strong point but my understanding is that CMS maps host headers
to root channels, so I'm assuming two CMS sites can't access the same content?
Are there any other ways around this?
Thanks in advance
Andy

Hello Everyone,
I'm fairly new to this product, we are running:
MCMS 2002 Client/Server Version 5.0
SP 2
When we try to add a .pdf file to the resource gallery we get an error:
The "file name" has caused an error and cannot be imported into the database.
Error description: (0x80020009) Extended error: [What='Server ODBC error.
Contact the site administrator.'] etc.
I also see the following warnings in the application log of the event viewer:
2006, 2403, 2400 all generated by MCMS.
Can anyone offer any causes and resolutions for this?

Hi,
We have a large application running on MCMS 2002 and Commerce Server 2002.
A script error "IDS_FRAMEWORK_VIRTUAL_PATH is undefined" is being displayed
in all the pages of the application, and we are unable to track the reason
for the same.
Can some one guide me?
Regards,
Pradeep

A few months ago I posted a question regarding why sometimes resources were
not being exported using the CmsDeployServer.CmsDeployExport.1 object. I
stated that the links (Pdf files) were created on the fly in a user control,
using c#.
Stefan explained that because these links were not stored within the cms
database, cms was not aware of them, since the links were rendered at run
time and consequently could not export them.
If I now say that they are in fact stored as xml within an xml place holder,
does that change anything?
I did attempt to find my original post and reply to that one, but could not
find it.
Thanks

Hi,
I'm creating my own HtmlPlaceholder control to replace the ActiveX one used
by CMS - specifically using the FCKEditor.
Is there a way to programatically determine the Formatting selected when
setting up the HtmlPlaceholder definition in the Template Manager e.g. Full
Formatting, Text Markup, Html Styles etc.?
Thanks as always
Shivonne

I have a report on Excel 2007 and it is a list of owners and their property,
mailing address and legal description of their parcels of land. I am trying
to help out marketing with the mailing. Since several owners own more then
one property, marketing would like to have report with the owner listed once
and each parcel listed in that one cell by legal description. If I eliminate
duplicates, it removed all of the data. Is there some way I can merge the
duplicates data? This is new to me and I have tried Excel and Access and do
not see how I would accomplish this.

Hi everyone,
While I was out on vacation last week, the network guys made some changes to
the network. Previously we were on Network #1, we split that network and
domain and are now on Network #2. My network login was previously
network1\jgrimmer, now it is network2\jgrimmer. During all the fun network
changes that happened last week, my workstation's name was changed from
worknet-6978796 to grimmer-j. As you can imagine, my MCMS install was set to
use a database on worknet-6978796. The database is now on grimmer-j.
If I try to go into Site Manager, I get the following message when trying to
connect to localhost (grimmer-j):
"The list of domains is not available due to the following error: Extended
error: [What='IAESession3::GetConfiguredDirectories: SQL Server does not
exist or access denied. ConnectionOpen (Connect()). Invalid connection
string
attribute.'][LCID='1024][SourceFile=''][SourceFileLine='-1'][DebugInfo=''][RecommendedAction='The
ODBC data source may be incorrectly configured, the database may not be
running, or there may be incorrect data in the
database.'][ExtraInfo=''][UniqueErrorId='4005'][Severity='5'][Source=''][CategoryId='0']"

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with installing MCMS2002 on Windows Server
2008.
I enabled all features in the IIS server role, including the IIS6
compatibility features.
But the MCSM setup keeps telling me the World Wide Web Publishing Services
and Server Side Includes are not installed.
I tried configuring the websites with classic application pools, but that
doesn't help...
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Moerak
