How do I 'back migrate' an Access database from Access 2007 to 200

A database was built in Access 2007 at home. However, the company uses Access
2003 exclusively and will not install Access 2007 in the office for a period
of time. When the Access 2007 user tries to save the file as a 2003 version
the command is rejected as the program states there is a feature
compatibility issue between the two versions.

How does one find out what things could be modified in the 2007 database to
allow the database to be saved in 2003 format?

Are there any other conversion options short of exporting each table and
rebuilding the database and forms manually?

Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

Are you currently using the new .accdb file format? What happens if you try
converting to the .mdb format, still within Access 2007, and then try
converting down to the earlier version? One feature that will be lost for
sure, assuming you have success downconverting, is any embedded macros. If
these were present, you will find command buttons on your forms that are no
longer functional.

The user did use the .accdb file format.

Is there a specific function within Access 2007 to convert to 2003 .mdb
format?

When the user does a Save As, the program denies the Save As to .mdb format
explaining that the use in Access 2007 of certain new 2007 functions within
his Access 2007 application does not allow the the Save As to occur. The
'back migration' conversion attempt fails using the Save As function.

Only the one that you've already found, which apparently is rejected when
the user attempts to use it.

Okay, try this. In Access 2007, create a new blank .mdb file. Then import
objects one group at a time from the .accdb file. In other words, import all
tables first, then all queries, then try for all forms, followed by all
macros, all reports, and any modules. I suspect that you should have success
importing all tables and queries. There may be one or more forms or reports
that cannot be imported, due to "advanced functionality". Those objects may
need to be re-created from scratch.
