Access database setup for data entry only

Author: leamunt

Is it possible to set a database up for data entry only? I want to set up a
front end that allows the user to access the created forms and reports but
not have access to the design wizards. I need a GUI interface that allows the
user to enter data and print reports, nothing else.

Record content has been updated by another User

Author: John Tsoi

Dear Sir/Madame,

I have a simple CRM program using Access 2003, which updates 2 or 3
tables at the same time. However, every time I have done an update and try to
add another record, I am always getting an error message someting like
"Record content has been updated by another user". I am sure I am the only
one in the system.

However, if I exit from program and re-enter again, I can add new record
without any problem. I just have to exit my program every time I add an
record and re-enter to avoid the error.

Can anyone point out to me what is causing this to happen.

Thanks,

John

How do I set an autonumber field to restart at "1"?

Author: Cpl Jones

I'm trying to reset our database back to its original starting condition (no
entries in any of the tables and all autonumber fields starting at 1) I
could figure it out in 2003 but so much has changed with 2007, I just can't
figure it out.

As long as you have no records in the table, a compact and repair should
reset the autonumber seed back to 1 (assuming you have the default increment
option selected in table design). In Access 2007, click on the Office Button
thingy, then click on Manage (I think), followed by Compact and repair
database.

  Conditional formatting on a Keyword

Author: Mavig

I have a form that I enter a keyword in. I run a report which calls a query
to search for the keyword within a field. The field could have sveral
words/phases in it. If the keyword is found, the report displays the field
with the keyword. How can I highlight just the keyword in the field.
my critera in the query is - like "*" & [form]![frmSearchKeyword]![keyword]
& "*"

Thanks

  Access 2007 File Size

Author: Glen CBC

The database has been in the 2007 format for about 6 months. Do regular
compact and repairs. The size has been around 160,000. Within a week it
jumped to 240,000.

Just converted from 32 bit to 64 bit. Don't see how that would have any
affect.

Have a dozen primary files and none of them have increased in size enough to
justify this big jump. The compact and repair is being done on the server,
however when I copy it to my C drive and do the compact and repair... there
is no resulting difference in size.

By the way someone left a cool suggestion about using KarenWare's Replicator
or QuikSync to back up on an hourly basis. Whoever posted this. Thanks!
This has been a worry for a long time. Any other suggestions?

Things to check
Is file trusted or in trusted location
Did it have security before moving
Do you have write access to the file
Is it an older version datafile
