Sharepoint 3.0 "Cannot connect to the configuration database." error

Author: Yu Yi
Date: Apr 14, 2008 09:45

Hi all, get a problem with my sharepoint 3.0, it kept showing "Cannot
connect to the configuration database" when launch via browser.

followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823287 double checked with SQL
database, IIS and application pool, IIS is running, SQL is up, don't really
know weather the pool is right, but it was working fine before the windows
update.

Background: Windows SBS server, Sharepoint 3.0, was being setup before,
everything was fine, we have data on it.

server was down last weekend for unknown reason, was checking on that, find
out that might be damnware related back to a year ago, was being installed
then removed, google search saying they might be related.
ice
check on windows update, run it but it was running sharepoint service pack
one update and it takes a long time seems stuck in there, terminate it then
reboot the server, both sharepoint and CRM services was showing down under
IIS, manually start them, CRM is working but not sharepoint, "Cannot connect
to the configuration database" is shown.

Research on that, can't get that fixed, haven't do any changes yet, guess it
is still SQL related.

  No Attachments

Hi All,

I have an issue with a web application in that when it send out an email
internally the attachments are missing. If they go externally everything is
fine.

We have recently (last 2 weeks) upgraded from exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003
and everything was working beforehand.

I get no error messages or warning saying attachments are missing/blocked
and I have checked all the antivirus/spam blockers that we use.

When looking in the headers it shows that the attachment is there but
nothing is there. I have attached a copy of the headers.

Can anybody suggest what is going wrong or missing

  Requesting some help

Author: Dave
Date: Jul 25, 2007 13:42

Hello community

I am scincerley asking for some help. I'm 31 years old and live in the UK,
I'm married with two children and have worked all my life as has my wife.

I have been given an opportunity to emigrate to Canada and start a life long
ambition in my chosen career I have a problem though. We cannot raise the
money to move and have no deposit for a home, without this we cannot go.

Its a long shot but all I ask is if someone out there would be kind enough
to give my family a £1 donation.

I don't know if what I'm doing is allowed but if nobody wants to give then
there is no harm in asking

If your happy to help then email at d2801@yahoo.com and 'll send you my
details

Kind regards Dave

  Mailbox access

Author: Andy White
Date: Jul 24, 2007 02:55

Hi All,

We seem to be having a problem with some mailfiles we have migrated from
exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003.

We have a number of "group" mailboxes that various people have access to in
order to do their jobs and answer queries etc.

When some, but not all, of the users try to look in the mailfile they get
the error "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access
the specified folder location".

I have ran all the outlook client switches I can find without an luck. I
have looked at KB189841, 814556 & 839531. I have checked the permissions on
the mailfiles and made sure they are correct, I have even removed the
permission and reapplied them.

I have give myself full control permissions to the mailstores in Exchange
2003 and I get the same error when I try to open the mailfile

Does anyone have any idea of anything I'm missing or something else I can
try

Thanks in advance

Andy
