- In der Scannerkarte und im Schiffsscan stehen ein paar mehr Tasten
zur Verfügung: ihr könnt z.B. den Visuellen Scanner und den Planeten-
Scanner aus der Navigationskarte aufrufen (L, F5), oder aus dem
Schiffsbau die Schiffsfunktionen oder die Waffenübersicht direkt
aufrufen (F1, W); letztere bringen jetzt genauere Berechnungen. Die
Fracht-Anzeige (C) aus dem Visuellen Scanner hat mehr Informationen,
und es gibt eine neue Fracht-Übersicht.

- In der Scriptsprache gibt es ein paar neue Befehle und Eigenschaften.
Jetzt sollten alle Spielaktionen scriptbar sein.

- In der History und der Vorhersage wurden einige Fehler behoben und
einige neue Informationen hinzugefügt.

Hipcrime tortures good-hearted Usenet posters for the fun of it.

Hipcrime does this for pleasure. They gain cold-hearted pleasure,

I want Hipcrime to be burnt alive. Death to Hipcrime. They defame

contraction/relaxation of all voluntary muscles [including speech

7. All pain reflexes -- somatic and visceral - should be totally

ab sofort gibt es PHost 4.1a und 3.5a.

Diese Version behebt vor allem Fehler. Die meiste Arbeit wurde in
Tests investiert, nicht in Code. Es gibt nun eine automatische
Testsuite, mit der Änderungen an PHost leicht auf Probleme überprüft
werden können. Bisher hat die Testsuite um die 150 Dateien, und wächst
weiterhin.


>>> KAMPF

PHosts Kampfsystem ist detailliert konfigurierbar. Es kann jedoch
passieren, dass mit bestimmten Konfigurationen einige Kämpfe nicht
aufgelöst werden können. Wenn beispielsweise die effektive
BeamRechargeRate eines Schiffs 1 ist, laden sich die Geschütze des
Schiffs nicht mehr auf, nachdem sie einmal gefeuert haben. Dadurch
alleine wird der Kampf nicht unlösbar: das Schiff könnte bereits mit
einer Salve siegen, es könnte den Kampf mit seinen Torpedos für sich
entscheiden, oder es könnte verlieren. Und auch, wenn wir
BeamRechargeRate=1 verbieten würden, gibt es noch viele weitere
unauffällige Konfigurationen, die zu endlosen Kämpfen führen, aber
nicht so einfach erkennbar sind.

Daher habe ich dem Kampfsystem einen Inaktivitäts-Timeout verpasst.
Wenn ein Kampf ca. 5000 Zyklen ohne nennenswerten Fortschritt
verbracht hat, wird der Kampf abgebrochen, als ob beide Teilnehmer
keine Munition mehr hätten. Das wird mit einer Meldung in host.log
protokolliert.

Es gibt (sehr seltene) falsche Positive, also Kämpfe, die abgebrochen
werden, obwohl sie regulär beendet hätten werden können. In diesem
Fall ändere einfach deine Konfiguration. Dies tritt nur mit sehr
langweiligen Kämpfen auf, wo für 5000 Zyklen nichts interessantes
passiert (zum Vergleich: in Tims Host wird jeder Kampf nach 2000
Zyklen beendet, egal, ob er noch Fortschritt zeigt oder nicht).
Beachte auch, dass die 5000 Zyklen kein absolutes Limit sind, ein
Kampf kann weiterhin länger sein, solange noch etwas passiert
(Beschädigung, Fighter-Abschüsse, Bewegung, ...).

Dieses Problem existiert in allen bisherigen PHost-Versionen. Hosts,
die ihren Spielern erlauben, die Konfiguration zu ändern, sollten
daher die neue Version benutzen (oder, wenn sie bei einer alten
Version bleiben, den Rechenzeitverbrauch einer PHost-Instanz
begrenzen).

Diese Änderung gilt sowohl für Version 3.5a, als auch 4.1a.


>>> SPRACHE

Dieser sehr peinliche Bug wurde von Markus Rektor weniger als 24
Stunden nach der Freigabe der 4.1/3.5 gefunden und berichtet: wenn
Spieler 11 eine Sprache nutzt, die sonst keiner im Spiel benutzt,
stürzt PHost mit einem Assertion-Failure ab. Verursacht wurde dieses
Malheur durch einen kleinen Tippfehler im neuen Sprachcode.

Eine andere Auswirkung des Wechsels auf den neue Code war, dass eine
Steueranweisung in der englischen Wurmloch-Nachricht auftauchte,
was dazu führte, dass VPA selbige nicht mehr verstand.

Diese Änderung gilt sowohl für Version 3.5a, als auch 4.1a.


>>> IONENSTÜRME

Leider hatte sich bei der Speicherung der Ionenstürme ein Tippfehler
eingeschlichen, so dass ein falsches Dateiformat benutzt wurde. Dies
ist nun korrigiert, allerdings sind damit die alten Ionensturm-Dateien
(grey.hst) nicht mehr lesbar. Wenn du Ionenstürme benutzt, solltest du
diese Datei löschen. Damit verschwinden alle Ionenstürme aus dem Spiel
und es werden neue generiert. Dies ist zugegebenermaßen eine sehr
hässliche "Lösung", allerdings geht es hier immerhin um ein unvorher-
sagbares Naturphänomen.

Eine weitere Änderung in diesem Umfeld ist, dass nun alle Ionenstürme
gelöscht werden, wenn die Option IonStormActivity auf 0 gesetzt wird.
Bisher sind die Stürme in diesem Fall einfach langsam verfallen.

Diese Änderung gilt nur in Version 4.1a.


>>> MINENFELDER

Nach dem Mines Destroy Mines konnten dennoch in einigen Fällen
Überlappungen bestehen bleiben, in anderen wurden offensichtlich zu
viele Minen entfernt. Diese Situationen werden nun besser gelöst. Eine
Nebenwirkung dieser Änderung ist auch, dass PHost nun Einträge vom Typ
53 in util.dat erzeugt. Dieser Typ ist zwar schon eine Weile definiert
gewesen, wurde aber nie erzeugt. Damit werden quasi die Rundungsfehler
berichtet.

Der maximale Testfall für Mines Destroy Mines hat übrigens 10000
zufällige Minenfelder. Um so eine Situation aufzulösen benötigt PHost
auf einem Prozessor mit 2 GHz um die 10 Minuten und 30 MB Speicher.
Dabei werden 1.5 GB Plattenplatz für die neuen Hostdaten und die
Results verbraucht, die Results sind jeweils 60 MB groß. Die meisten
Clients weigern sich, die Results auszupacken, da diese 500000
Nachrichten enthalten, die Nachrichtenanzahl aber nur in 16 Bit
gespeichert ist. Solch eine Situation kann allerdings meines Wissens
in realen Spielen nicht auftreten. In diesen gibt es maximal 999 neue
Minenfelder pro Zug, eine solche Situation wird in wenigen Sekunden
aufgelöst.

Diese Änderung gilt sowohl für Version 3.5a, als auch 4.1a.


>>> SUPER REFIT

Wenn der Befehl "refit" benutzt wurde, hat PHost bisher vergessen, die
Torpedos korrekt umzuladen. Vielmehr wurden die Torpedos einfach
kostenlos auf den neuen Typ umgerüstet, was natürlich viel Geld spart.
Dies wird nun korrekt behandelt; die Torpedos werden wie beim normalen
Super Refit aus- und nachher wieder aufgeladen. Gefunden von Mathias
Käckenmeister.

Wenn du die neue PHost-Version nicht nutzen willst, kannst du den
"refit"-Befehl mit "CPEnableRefit=No" deaktivieren.

Diese Änderung gilt nur in Version 4.1a.


>>> KLEINIGKEITEN

Einige Möglichkeiten, PHost mit einem Divisionsfehler (Floating Point
Exception) zum Absturz zu bringen, wurden behoben. Vermutlich konnte
jedoch keine dieser Möglichkeiten von Spielern einfach ausgenutzt
werden.

Außerdem hat PHost es manchmal ermöglicht, ein bereits überladenes
Schiff weiter zu überladen.

PHost beendet sich nun bei allen Fehlern auf der Kommandozeile
(ungültige Optionen usw.) mit einem Fehler-Status (errorlevel 1). Alle
Meldungen zu diesem Thema enthalten nun auch das Wort "PHost", um dir
die Fehlersuche in deinen Hostscripten zu erleichtern.

Die Piraten rauben mit "Rob" nun auch Geld, das im Frachttransporter
liegt (wie bei allen anderen Arten Transport auch).

Für Hyperspringer wird beim Auflösen der Tow-Missionen nun immer der
Wert 350 als Waypoint_distance eingesetzt, egal, wie weit der
eingestellte Waypoint weg ist.


>>> KLEINE NEUIGKEITEN

Training erzeugt nun als Quittung eine Nachricht und einen
Produktionsmeldung in UTIL.DAT (Typ 55), wenn ExactExperienceReports
eingeschaltet ist. Das gibt's selbstverständlich nur in Version 4.

Mit der neuen Einstellung DefenseToBlockBioscan kann die Schwelle, ab
der Bioscanner Planeten nicht mehr finden, geregelt werden. Durch
Anheben dieses Wertes werden Bioscanner auch im Endspiel interessant.
Diese Option gibt es in beiden PHost-Versionen.
