  acpi & interrupt issues

Author: Marco Peereboom
Date: Jun 1, 2008 13:44

A follow on diff to the latest acpi parser adds some more intelligence
on interrupt routing. This diff fixes my HP V3000Z & Dell PowerEdge
T105; both now boot bsd.rd which was not the case before this diff.

This diff is a bit of a hammer though so it needs wide testing. So run
this diff on everything that has acpi. Only send me an email when it
fails. It always helps to send the diff of the dmesg with and without
the diff!

Original code was done by kettenis.

  [PATCH] small fix for snmp_debug_elements

Small fix. Instead of relying on NUL termination use the size from the BER element.

  fix mv(1) fd-leak and others

Author: Jacek Masiulaniec
Date: May 29, 2008 16:42

Hello tech@,

The below diff:
1) plugs fd-leak in out-of-memory conditions.
2) improves POSIX.1 compliance by not skipping warnings:

If the duplication of the file characteristics fails for any
reason, mv shall write a diagnostic message to standard error, but
this failure shall not cause mv to modify its exit status.

3) fixes execl(3) calls so that rm and cp don't show up as mv in ps output.

[PATCH] acpithinkpad: Free results of aml_evalname()

Author: Stefan Sperling
Date: May 29, 2008 03:51

Hi again,

in some places, the acpithinkpad driver does not free values
returned by aml_evalname(), even though the caller is responsible
for freeing.

[PATCH] acpithinkpad: Recognise new hotkeys of x60s

Author: Stefan Sperling
Date: May 29, 2008 03:32

Hi,

See subject. My x60s emits events and supports keys the driver does
not know about. The driver then pollutes my dmesg with lines like:
acpithinkpad0: unknown type 5 event 0x010

Could this have to do with me using the latest BIOS version?

One note on brightness change: The brightness of the display
is changed twice when I hit the hotkey once. It's changed when
I press the key, and then changed another step up/down when the
driver receives the THINKPAD_BRIGHTNESS_CHANGED event -- which
happens about a second later.
Does this happen on other thinkpad models, too?

Patch and dmesg (now without warnings from the driver):

  Remove fpr

Author: Daniel Dickman
Date: May 28, 2008 20:52

fpr has been marked as being deprecated for 10 years --

[/usr/src/usr.bin/asa] cvs annotate asa.1
...
1.3 (etheisen 02-Sep-96): The
1.3 (etheisen 02-Sep-96): .Nm fpr
1.4 (aaron 07-Sep-98): utility is deprecated and its use
should be restricted.
...

Any reason to keep it around any longer? Patch below removes it. Also
can be downloaded from the link below since gmail will probably mess
up the patch.
