I realised I have the release bits sitting on my main server and not on the
Alpha build machine. So I have uploaded things to ftp-master, by now
the ftp mirrors should have picked it up.

Nathan, what X server are you using? (how did you build it?)
After seeing reboots caused by the XFree86-4 server, I've tried
to build xorg server using the ports but failed: `make install`
in /usr/ports/x11/xorg ended by saying
===> xorg-server-1.4_3,1 does not run on ia64 alpha, while you are running alpha.

I cannot work this until I get home from my current business trip, that
would/should be around March 24.

cheers,
Wilko

6.3-RELEASE missing on the FTP servers

Author: Gheorghe Ardelean
Date: Mar 13, 2008 18:06

Hi,

As I can see the 6.3-RELEASE ISOs have been uploaded on FTP servers could
somebody upload also the 6.3-RELEASE directory (Wilko could you please do
this)? Whithout 6.3-RELEASE the bootonly image does not make to much
sense! :)

Best regards,

Gheorghe Ardelean.

I had this problem with xorg-server for a while (on a PC164). It turned
out to be due to bad RAM. Replacing all 4 DIMMs with matched sticks
solved the problem beautifully. Using the xorg vesa driver also worked.
