Thanks for the reply. Funny you ask. Seems the transfer speeds are a bit better with manual, although not all the time. This doesn't make much sense. Unless, that is, the long-term backups are pulled directly from the servers themselves and not from the DPM server. Very perplexing. Need some help understanding a data tranfer issue. We use firestreamer so that we can use an external eSATA drive for long-term storage instead of tapes. Within our PG, we have a series of different servers. And they have different data sizes that are backed up. We noticed, however, that some long-term backups to tape/disk move faster than others. If you skipped over the descriptive post I made above I would encourage you to review it again. Tape has no chance to be withing 10%% or even 50%% of the time for disk based backups once you start understanding how block based backups work. The time differentials for block based incrementals here are going to blow away tape transfer options because you won't be moving the same amount of
