to obtain from the {gpg,} signature.

I'm just saying because I really believe this proposed way is better

Debian should focus on common grounds ....

Author: Osamu Aoki
Date: Dec 24, 2008 09:20

Hi,

Here is my thought.... Debian is not about voting but about free software.

I am sick of seeing too many votes/policy-discussion/... to force other
volunteers to obey particular action patters. Basic principle of this
project should be more inclusive one and volunteer one. It should not
be a one of exclusion and enforcement. Volunteer project should be
based on coercion.

Logically-looking arguments to overturn some one else's judgement and
limit some one else's action is not constructive way to run volunteer
project.

As human, we all are so prone to "absolutely right" position statements
by itself. They look good. Making ourself bound by such beautiful
words are risky move. We should make judgement for our action based on
more practical issues which are more tangible and easily to be agreed.
(E.g., "Release lenny soon" vs. "Wait forever".) Voting system itself
will not answer these issues as we saw. We still need human to make
choices for voting.

Question to donation from OnlineStore to Debian/SPI

Author: Michelle Konzack
Date: Sep 20, 2008 17:20

Hello,

I am ongoing to start a new OnlineStore selling Debian DVDs and CDs
beside other things. Sinde I want to donate a part of the sales price
to the Debian Project I am running into some troubles.

I need and organisation where peopled can get fiscal benefits in Germany
and maybe France...

Pleass can you name some organisations if SPI can not handel it?

Since there is no SPI-Germany, are there interests to create one?

Curently I have heavy problems to get osCommerce correctly running since
I have hit a couple of bugs in it... and I am ongoing to code my own
one since there is NO Devel/User Mailinglist for it and I can not access
this crapy forum. (It produce 5 times more traffic as a Mailinglist and
I am on GSM which is quiet expensive)

The location of it is: <http://onlinestore.tamy-dogan.net/>

  giving hardware

Author: Hervé Bouy
Date: Sep 18, 2008 15:20

Hi,

I have some old AMD Athlon MP processors (1400, 1500 and 1900MHz) and
PC2100 DDR RAM sticks that I do not use anymore but that work great
and could be useful to build a server or just for testing.

Is Debian interested in such hardware ? If yes, how can I send it to
your organization? Am happy to pay the fees. That'll be a little
contribution to a project I like a lot and use everyday.

Thanks for your great work

Herve

changes to the use of sudo on project machines

Author: Peter Palfrader
Date: Sep 16, 2008 18:00

[please follow up to -project or -admin or just me, depending on what
seems more appropriate.]

Hi,

if you use sudo on project machines this will affect you.

The short version:

If you want to use sudo in the future, go to http://db.debian.org/ and set a
sudo password for you.

A slightly longer version:

We are trying to limit the exposure of login and ldap passwords on project
machines. Currently everybody who is using sudo on a project machine has
to use their login and ldap password, which in case of a compromise can be
used to access other machines and change the user's settings in ldap.

Since sudo uses the pam library to authenticate users, we can make use of a
dedicated passwords file using libpam-pwdfile for authentication to sudo.
