OpenOffice is actually in etch now on AMD64. I don't use it much, but
it works, and has an official debian package.

Hi,
I've been given a Canon MP150 (printer, copier, scanner) and realize that
it's not listed under the kde printer manager ("add printer" option).
Googling does show that GNU Linux support for this printer is basically
non-existent, probably even more so for AMD64. I'm hoping someone in this
ng managed to get it working in Debian, probably by using some other
compatible driver already available. I'd appreciate some suggestions.
Thanks.
Cheers,

Ciao a tutti,
I am trying to run the 2.6.19-1 kernel version on my computer because
this version is the only capable to use the ide controller from my
mother board. But I always get only
unabel to mount root partition
at boot and I cannot understand why (quite the same .config for 2.6.18
works fine but the cdrom does not work properly).
Could somebody send me a running .config for this version?

Ciao

Hi,
I have a laptop, having a RTL8168 (r1000 module) Ethernet NIC, and a
centrino (ipw3945 module) as wireless. It's Core 2 Duo T7200 CPU.
No more NIC is available.
The r1000 module, as well as the ipw3945 are not in any Debian CD iso
available.
How would you suggest me to install in that condition, given I dont want
to ./configure; make; make install". I only want to stay apt'd.
At least, would you know where could I find a today Sid iso, including a
kernel that would embed the r1000 module? If I could find that, I could
at least perform a wired netinst and manage for the wireless later.
Any hint?

Thanks to a couple of recipees that independently I
received from Giacomo Mulas, I recognized two mistakes

I am trying to compile a software. When I try to do it I get error.
Which seems to be a linker error I assume. This compiles cleanly on a
machine running fedora. The error I get is as follows:
`.gnu.linkonce.t._ZNK22goto_program_templatetI5exprtE18output_instructionERK10namespacetRK7dstringRSoSt20_List_const_iteratorINS1_12instructiontEE' referenced in section `.rodata' of goto_functions.o: defined in discarded section `.gnu.linkonce.t._ZNK22goto_program_templatetI5exprtE18output_instructionERK10namespacetRK7dstringRSoSt20_List_const_iteratorINS1_12instructiontEE' of goto_functions.o
Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bharath

Hi list,
I have finally decided to look into my little issue of no sound with
chroot applications. The AMD64 howto is down at the moment (or at least I
can't reach it) so I am not sure this is written there, anyway: all I had
to do was to bind mount my /dev directory.
My /etc/fstab looks like this now:
# ia32 chroot
/home /var/chroot/sid-ia32/home none bind 0 0
/tmp /var/chroot/sid-ia32/tmp none bind 0 0
proc /var/chroot/sid-ia32/proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev /var/chroot/sid-ia32/dev none bind 0 0
Well obviously there's more to it, this is just the relevant part ;)
I hope this can help somebody.
I have sound in flash and mplayer with no other configuration required:
please note I use esd in my gnome desktop, not sure if it's relevant or
not.
Enjoy!
