Hi.
I tried to install lenny on my E250 via network. A second computer is
connectet via ttyS0 / minicom. The system connects to the server via
ARP/RARP, loads the boot-image and begins to start. The kernel messages
do appear on the console until the network is detected.
The last messages I can see are:

Hi all.

I try to install Debian on a Sun Blade 100, it does not work. I tried to
install etch from CD and via netboot, tried sarge and even woody. The
installation hangs on different positions.

A firmware update did not help.

I could not find any helpful hinds on the internet.

Any idea?

hi guys,

I'm having some problems with the setup installer for debian 4.0.4a
(etch) for sparc. I tried passing the following on SILO:

SILO Boot

boot: install video:atyfb:off DEBIAN_FRONTEND=text

I was able to successfully load the kernel through this method but for
some weird reason my sun keyboard will all of a sudden go hay-wire. as
soon as i pick the first option that the installer asks for and hit
the (ENTER key) the screen will just keep on scrolling. at first i
thought it's a keyboard issue but I've changed it for the 3rd time and
when im on OpenBOOT i can run the commands without any hassle. If
there is someone that was able to make this to work and would like to
share I would very much appreciate this...

Hi,

I've proposed a patch [0] to fix an RC bug in paraview [1] (FTBFS on
sparc). Unfortunately, after applying the patch, the package build
fails in random places for me (not related to the initial problem) in
roughly half of the build attempts (in the other half the package is
built successfully). It might be some weird issue with the build
system or toolchain, there is also a chance that my hardware is broken
(even though until now I was not able to notice any problems while
building other packages). If you have a chance and a reasonably fast
sparc box (it takes about 6 hours to build on my SunBlade1000), please
try building paraview from sid with the patch [0], preferrably a few
times, and report if you encounter any failures.

Hi,
I could probably receive such hardware for a few months, so I am
wondering if it is supported by Debian. Browsing the web I found that
Sarge could be installed bia network (tftp), but I found no information
about sarge or lenny on the same hardware.
About the StorEdge I suppose its support depend on the controller used.
Is there any list of such working controllers?

I know this machine have two UltraSparc III @ 750Mhz and 1Gb of RAM. Do
you have any idea about what can it be compared to? A dual pentiumIII @
1,4Ghz?
