I did the following. But no sound. Not even when the tab key is pressed on
the console. kernel 2.6.22 was already installed on my laptop when I
upgraded to lenny.
# Compile alsa-modules
# (i.e kernel 2.6.22 + alsa-module 1.0.15)
apt-get remove 'alsa-modules-*'
apt-get install module-assistant alsa-source
module-assistant prepare
module-assistant update
module-assistant a-i alsa-source

Jos Collin

Using latest bios and several operating systems: W2K, WXP, Ubuntu,
Debian-test, Mepis.
After playing with it for two weeks, on/off,suspend-ram/disk, I think
problem lies in battery or in power hw.
When power-on sw fails, if I remove battery and plug, then insert plug
and power-on: OK..
I generally just leave X31 in suspend-ram, never a problem there, but
(almost?) always when the power is off, the X31 will not power-on
unless I fool with battery and/or power connection. I have several
different Thinkpad models and never saw this before.
One nice thing about the X31 and T42, switching harddisks works very
well exept eth0/eth2 required a change in /etc/network/interface.

Hi,
I have just upgraded my Thinkpad X31 from sarge to lenny (to get "real"
control over the backlight, btw), and my precious suspend2ram got broken.
What happens is this:
1. I "echo mem > /sys/power/state" (i know this is deprecated, but this
is how it always worked here)
2. The suspend process goes on normally (the screen turns off, the
"moon led" flashes, and the laptop goes to sleep)
3. When the "moon led" goes solid (ie. the laptop is suspended), the
screen *turns itself on* for some reason
4. When i resume, everything comes back to normal (X11 and everything
comes back up)
I suspect the problem is related to ACPI, as I've heard that part of
'testing' is in flux. Also the fact that the screen actually turns
itself *off* while the laptop goes to sleep but really turns itself back
up when the computer is really asleep is a dead giveaway: ACPI *must* be
broken somewhere.

Hello @All
(sorry 4 my english)
Try to add Option "NoDDC" in / etc/X11/xorg.conf:
...
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML
Express Integrated Graphics Controller"
Driver "intel"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
Option "NoDDC"
EndSection
...
This resolved my problem with the big font in kdm.
Greetings, Chris.......

Saludos.
