  Bug#491748: ITP: xml-commons-external -- xml-commons-external: XML Commons external code - DOM, SAX, and JAXP, etc

Author: Vincent Fourmond
Date: Jul 21, 2008 13:10

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Vincent Fourmond debian.org>

* Package name : xml-commons-external
Version : 1.3.04
Upstream Author : World Wide Web Consortium
* URL : http://xml.apache.org/commons/
* License : BSD-like
Programming Lang: Java
Description : xml-commons-external: XML Commons external code - DOM, SAX, and JAXP, etc

xml-commons is focussed on common code and guidelines for xml projects.
The first focus will be to organize and have common packaging for the
various externally-defined standards code relating to XML - things like
the DOM, SAX, and JAXP interfaces.

This package is 'backported' from the one in Ubuntu.

  Intel Atom Processor

Author: Kushal Koolwal
Date: Jul 21, 2008 10:50

Hello,

First of all I apologize if this question is not appropriate for this mailing list. I scanned the entire Debian Mailing Lists and I thought this might be the most appropriate. If it is not then please direct me to the correct one.

Now the question:
I was wondering if there is any development amongst the Debian community with regards to supporting Intel's latest low power Atom processor which will be mostly used in UMPC (Ultra mobile PC).
http://www.intel.com/technology/atom/index.htm

While researching over this on the Internet I came across the following website which mentions about Ubuntu having some sort of support for this processor.
http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/ubuntu-linux-remix.html

And therefore I was thinking if Debian Project is planning to natively support these?

Thank you in advance.

Kushal

  Bug#491714: ITP: libtfbs-perl -- module to scan DNA sequences with a position weight matrix

Author: Steffen Moeller
Date: Jul 21, 2008 08:10

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Steffen Moeller

* Package name : libtfbs-perl
Version : 0.5
* URL : http://tfbs.genereg.net/
* License : GPL, Artistic
Programming Lang: C, Perl
Description : module to scan DNA sequences with a position weight matrix

The TFBS perl modules comprise a set of routines to interact with the
Transfac and Jaspar databases that describe a special family of proteins,
the transcription factors. These bind to genomic DNA to initiate (or
prevent) the readout of a gene. Once multiple binding sites are known
for a transcription factor, these are gathered in a single file and are
aligned in order to find position-specific characteristica that might
be used to predict such binding events in novel DNA sequences.

control individual process state via an rpc mechanism, thus allowing
ordinary users to restart processes.

Hi again,

basically, freezing next week means that uploads with a low urgency will
not be part of Lenny (unless hinted).

In the next 1~2 monthes that separate us from the release, there will be
new upstream releases for the packages I maintain and I am undecided
what to do:

- Ignore them and dedicate only to Lenny.
- Package them only if requested by users.
- Upload them to experimental.
- Upload them to unstable.

  Bug#491634: ITP: libbsd-arc4random-perl -- CPAN module BSD::arc4random

Author: Thorsten Glaser
Date: Jul 20, 2008 17:30

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thorsten Glaser

* Package name : libbsd-arc4random-perl
Version : 1.30
Upstream Author : Thorsten Glaser
* URL : http://www.mirbsd.org/man3/arc4random
* License : MirOS Licence (same as package mksh)
Programming Lang: C, Perl
Description : CPAN module BSD::arc4random

I've prepared a package of a Perl module wrapping the arc4random(3)
family of functions into ithreads-safe Perl functions and adding some
syntactic sugar. The libbsd package’s implementation of arc4random(3)
is used instead of the included convenience copy. This package makes
access to a self-seeding PRNG easy, for example in programmes that can
be extended by Perl plugins, such as irssi.
