i just started commuting downtown on my motorcycle last week from
Sackville. i worked out my mileage after filling up last night
and it worked out to 67 miles per gallon! i take the bedford highway
back and forth. Three days of commuting downtown cost me $7.88 which
is cheaper than taking the bus.

Cool - that's pretty good. I wonder though if you add in the capital
cost and O&M like oil and tires and insurance and registration and all
the costs of ownership if it's still cheaper. Not being critical -
just thinking out loud.

Some folks argue that for many people the the cost of car ownership is
greater than if they take taxis and take the occasional rental for
long trips.

Safe riding!

One of the news outlets did as piece recently on the environmental impact
of motorcycles over cars, and they found that despite the better mileage,
km for km, motorcycle engines put out significantly more CO2 and other
greenhouse gases than cars.

Unfortunately, I can't recall which station produced the piece, so I don't
have the link. But here's one that says something similar...
