Languague Enviroment

I am using emacs and I set my current-language-environment is configured to Brazilian Portuguese.
However when I use Dired, the character with accent are not showing up correctly.
In this picture, you can see that it is showing strange characters:

This dir is supposed to be "Área de Trabalho"
I tried Latin-1, but it did not work...

Please try CVS version of Emacs 23, which features an advanced Unicode
support.
Note that this group is for Gnus-related issues only, so consider
posting to `gnu.emacs.help` instead.

I fixed the error!
I selected Options->Mule->Set Language Environment->Default
Everything is normal now.
