  [Info-Ingres] How to retrieve the default Ingres user group?

Author: spammeiloveit
Date: Aug 15, 2008 02:20

Good morning

I have a script which was supposed to retrieve a list of an Ingres
user's groups from iidbdb (which it does), with the default group
first (which it now doesn't). The list of Ingres user groups comes
back in alphabetic order and I can't see how the script would ever
have worked as I had previously understood that it did!

I'm currently using unsupported IngresII 2.5, to which we upgraded 2
years ago.

Does anyone have a clever bit of SQL that retrieves the -defaul_t
Ingres group from iidbdb for a given user, or at least the full list
of groups with default group first?

Thanks, L Jackson.

  [Info-Ingres] wintcp protocol deprecation on Windows

Author: BruceL
Date: Aug 13, 2008 17:48

The Ingres/Net protocol "wintcp" on Windows was superceded (starting
with Ingres r3...ie, post Ingres 2.6) with protocol "tcp_ip". The new
protocol is compatible with the old but was enhanced to use the
Winsock 2 API (for improved performance) and later IPv6 support.
However, the old "wintcp" protocol driver still remained the default
for Ingres/Net and hence, is still the primary driver being used. A
project is planned to deprecate (not remove) wintcp. Basically, the
project involves making "tcp_ip" the default and providing an easy way
to switch from "wintcp" to "tcp_ip" (including converting vnodes) when
upgrading Ingres installations to the new release.

If you would like to review and/or comment on the project, there is a
Detailed Design Specification (DDS) for the project posted to the
Ingres Community site under Ingres Connectivity projects: see
“Deprecate Wintcp Protocol” project at http://community.ingres.com/wiki/Deprecate_WinTCP_Protocol_Home
Please provide any feedback regarding the design on the “Project”
tab discussion page for the “Deprecate WinTCP Protocol” project.

FYI, the design is a result of feedback received earlier this year
during a functional review.

Regards,

  [Info-Ingres] ESQLC and datahandlers

Author: Colin Hay
Date: Aug 7, 2008 17:39

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever used datahandlers in ESQLC to select LONG VARCHAR columns
and pass their values back to OpenROAD ?

I am setting the sqltype to -46 and length to 0 and attaching a datahandler
routine - Get_Handle
but on the FETCH I get an Invalid Exception error

IISQLHDLR datahdlr_struct;

typedef struct hdlr_arg_struct
{
char *arg_str;
int arg_int;
} HDLR_PARAM;

int Get_Handler(HDLR_PARAM);
HDLR_PARAM hdlr_arg;

main

..

datahdlr_struct.sqlarg = &hdlr_arg;
datahdlr_struct.sqlhdlr = Get_Handler;

  [Info-Ingres] Getting started after Installation

Author: w1ndy
Date: Aug 6, 2008 16:39

I've loaded Ingres Database (linux version) on Ubuntu Hardy 8.04, and
i've compiled the PHP Driver 2.0.0 ingres.so module, when I start
apache and ingstart and load a php page with phpinfo() it shows the
ingres information. I can tried some of the example code and I am able
to output the version, but I am having a problem connecting to the
database (demodb). I assume it's because I am not providing the
correct credentials.

So now where do I start to from here? can anybody point me to a
specific manual or documentation that can help me create/edit
users,tables, db... etc.

Thanks!

Date: Aug 1, 2008 14:59

August 1, 2008

Dear Valued Ingres Customer:

Information security is of utmost priority to Ingres. A number of
vulnerabilities have recently been identified in Ingres 2006 release 2
(9.1.0), Ingres 2006 release 1 (9.0.4), and Ingres 2.6. We have given
these vulnerabilities a security threat level of ‘High’ and recommend
that the available security patches be applied immediately.

Fixes are available for the current release of Ingres 2006 release 2
(9.1.0), for Ingres 2006 release 1 (9.0.4), and for Ingres 2.6
versions on their respective platforms. The security fixes are
available and can be quickly applied with little to no anticipated
impact to systems.

Ingres customers with a current support contract can review the
following knowledge base document for information on downloading the
available fixes:

  [Info-Ingres] Questions on PM

Author: zhenchen17
Date: Aug 1, 2008 07:28

Hi,
I still get problems on PM
1. is it true that pmload could only load config.dat(or some file
specified) ? But just only one file? If i want to load another file
similar to config.dat and make both loaded, is there any way?
2. how to use PMscan function to get all resource string with fixed
depth? For instance, i would like to get all resource string like
ii.host.abc.*, * would be any string, but it must be four components.
ii.host.abc.aa is right but ii.host.abc.aa.kk is not right. What is
the request statement looks like? i tried ii.host.abc.* or ii.host.abc.
%%%%, it seems find out all resource string begin with ii.host.abc.
3.Is there any detail documents on PM regular express? The wiki not
satified me very much. Something like %%%% is not explained in the wiki :
(

Thanks very much

  [Info-Ingres] Friday fun. Strange Date field group by behaviour

Author: Paul White
Date: Jul 31, 2008 19:15

I've been working with Ingres support on an interesting problem this
week. The answer suprised me.

This query produced extra rows in the testing environment. The same data
had no problem in production.
(The original query is of course much more complex)

SELECT
best_before = date_gmt(pd.best_before),
on_hand_cartons = SUM(pd.orig_pallet_units)
FROM pallet_detail pd
WHERE pd.pallet_no IN ( 566547, 566587)
AND pd.catlog_code = '03702016'
GROUP BY pd.best_before

Production
best_before on_hand_cartons
2008_12_31 00:00:00 GMT | 100

Test
best_before on_hand_cartons
2008_12_31 00:00:00 GMT 50
