I read in the Daily Mail (aaaghhh) the other day that an lavish state
funeral in being prepared for former PM Margaret Thatcher. Just about
her only achievement was proving that a female leader could be as
corrupt and incompetent as any male. Yes, she took on the unions, but
rather than handing the power back to the people, she handed to the
likes of Rupert Murdoch and Richard Desmond and any other cunt with a
few billion quid in their wallet.
My suggestion. Save the taxpayer some money (give it to kids cancer
charities or something instead) and just have a quiet service with a
few close friends and relatives. Then put the body through an
industrial mincer, tin it up, and feed it to my lovely cats, they like
pork and that supposedly tastes similar to human flesh, thus saving me
a few quid. It would be interesting to see if the cats would actually
eat it.... whether they're tastebuds could be tickled by alien
reptilian hybrids remains a mystery....

Letter To Press: Levelling The Playing Field Of Football
Sir,
Whilst I am no great follower of football, it has saddened me somewhat
to witness the fate of my local teams Colchester United and Ipswich
Town over the last decade. Both have won promotion, only to see their
star players snapped up by big money clubs, then being relagated a
season or so later. Neither Colchester or Ipswich will ever attract
the sort of money available to "superclubs" such as Manchester United
or Chelsea.
So what could be done to help smaller clubs and prevent the yo-yo
promotion and relagation cycle? I believe if professional footballers
were limited to a four year consecutive stint in the premiership, then
have to play for a year in the championship before being allowed to
return, this would prove a great leveller...

address/phone details on request
FAO: Director of Essex Social Services
Dear Sir/Madam
I write in support of mothers and fathers denied contact between them
and their children, in foster or adopted care.
The date today is 16th July. If your department does not change its
policy to allow regular contact (where security can by practically
provided) between children adopted or in foster care and their birth
parents. I will take my own life on the 16th August. You will have
blood on YOUR hands!
I am not a natural parent, nor do intend to have a family myself.
However, I have seen the immense pyschological and psychiatric damage
done to adults and children due to a policy that is more compatible
with Nazism or Apartheid than a western democracy. I believe it is the
ABSOLUTE right to have contact between oneself and one's own blood
relatives. This is to me the most fundamental human right....
This is a case I am willing to DIE for. Life without liberty is worse
than liberty without life.
Yours Sincerely

New York is considerably more multicultural than London and serious
crime has been falling there for the last decade or so. What has been
behind this success has been tackling relatively minor crimes such as
vandalism, graffiti, drunken disorderliness and littering with the
full force of the law. The effect this has had is improving the
general atmosphere within the city, making decent citizens feel safer
and the criminal element more frightened.
Vandalised property is promptly repaired, burned out vehicles removed
etc. This sends out the message that the city authorities care. It's
know in criminology as the "broken window" approach- if vandals break
a window and it does not get repaired promptly, then other vandals
will add to their "work", gangs start getting involved along with hard
drugs...

Many sections of the media have been calling for a reduction on fuel
duty, to compensate for the rising price of oil. However, there are
many strategic and geological problems associated with our reliance on
oil. The emerging economies of India and China present an ever
increasing demand on what is essentially a finite resource.
Would it not make more sense to invest in electric rail transport,
which uses far less energy than the road equivalent, and can be
powered by many alternative forms, such as nuclear and renewables. A
national high speed passenger network, combined with a parallel broad
loading gauge freight line, could take many cars and lorries off the
road. Such a scheme would not just save energy, but reduce congestion,
which costs business millions.
There is no reason why this could...

Residents and traders of Manningtree are in two minds about the
possible opening of a Tesco hypermarket in the town. On one hand,
local businesses are worried about the effects on trade, and there are
also concerns about traffic congestion. On the other, there is the
possibility that more people will remain in Manningtree to do their
shopping, rather than drive to Colchester or Ipswich.
Living in Manningtree, it has been hard not to notice the decline in
high street traders. When I first moved to the town there was
practically double the number of shops, despite a far smaller
population. This is a shame, as people like to build up a relationship
with small businesses, as unlike the chain stores, such outfits rely
largely on word of mouth and personal reputation.
