I would like to use some of the symbols that were included in version 3 in
version 12. Are these in an old font file type that is no longer used(wfn)?
The files are on the 3.0 cd I have, but I can't import them as a font as
they aren't a recognized file type.
Any help or information would be appreciated.
Thanks

All of the symbol fonts included in Version 3 have also been included
in every version since then, as truetype and in more recent versions
in both truetype and type1. In Corel Draw 12, they're on CD #2, in
Extra Fonts\Symbols\TTF
and
Extra Fonts\Symbols\Type1

An article on the Internet says Corel version 2 had the Wfnboss utility that can
convert the fonts into postscript type 1 fonts. I tried to find a download to no
avail. I have Corel 3, but alas not 2.

Here's a downloadable Corel Version 2. But I ask WHY would you want to
convert them again? They're ALL readily available as TT and/or T1 in
every subsequent edition of Corel Draw, and those older versions of
the fonts were, to put it mildly, imperfect.

The relatively ancient FontMonger will also convert .wfn fonts. It can
sometimes be found. Final version was 1.08
There's a current thread running in alt.binaries.fonts (usenet).
Here's are two comments by people who loaded up wfnboss and ran it
against the Corel 2.x .wfn fonts:

Personally, I'm interested only in the symbols that were in WFN format, not
the actual typefaces. All those symbols in my copy of v3 were in WFN format,
not TrueType. I didn't find any TT fonts that contained the symbols.

Yes, you're right about V3. The text fonts are ttf but the symbols
were still wfn.
But they're on the CD for V9 and just about every other version.
Usually in a separate Symbols folder, with subfolders for T1 and TT.

Well, as Flip Wilson (?) used to say, "Raise my rent!". I have an OEM version
of v9 and thought the extra fonts were on one of the CDs I didn't get with
the OEM version. Turns out I have them in TT format after all.
Thanks!

Well, I am still trying to get to these WFN files in version 3. They
used to come up by hitting CTRL-T. But now there are only a few that
show and none of the ones I want.
How can you get ver 3 or Web Graphics Suite 1 find these files so that
they are usable? They are there and listed in the .ini file but they
don't appear when you try to insert a symbol.
