  MIPSpro Compilers

Author: Benjamin Perrault

Does anyone have a copy or a link to a copy of the MIPSpro compiler (C
and C++ - 7.3 or later)? I thought there was link on the SGI site to
download a copy, but it appears to be gone.

My Fuel which had a working set lost it's disk and it appears my backup
of the internal disk was not really usable so I'm stuck trying to limp
along with GCC. I still have a copy of the license file but what good
is it going to do me without out software :-(

Thanks in advance!

  Jurassic Park CGI and effects

Author: x01001x

What kind of SGI hardware and software were used by Industrial Light
and Magic for the CGI effects made for the film Jurassic Park?

I'm thinking it must have been an Onyx (or multiple ones.)

  do you remember IrisGL?

Author: davidmaxwaterman

If so, perhaps you can remember the name of that application SGI had
which allowed you to make and edit documents that contain 3D texture
mapped text and models - IINM, it used IRIS Inventor for the models
and text. Waaay ahead of it's time - even today there isn't much that
can do what it can do as easily.

I've been trying to remember what the application is called, but I
can't.

Perhaps someone here has a better memory.

Max.

does. I was so impressed, it took my image and added elements to it to
image it almost look 3d. very very cool must see...

  Wanted: SGI Ada95, alias gnat_dev 1.4

Author: Erik Baigar

Hello there,

does anyone out there have got a CD from the IRIX6.5 media
set containing the SGI Ada95 Development System? This
is the gnat 3.14 based Ada development system, which is
under the GPL. I'd be happy if some one could supply me
with this one,

thanks and best regards,

Erik.

P.S. For details on this package, please see the SGI page:

Calculix-1.7 for download: Free Three-Dimensional Structural Finite Element Program

Author: Erik Baigar
Date: Feb 23, 2008 02:58

Dear SGI users,

I just put a ready-to-go tardist binary distribution of the
most recent version of CalculiX onto my homepage. This is a
3D finite element program which comes with a frontend for
data entry and result visualization (cgx) and a backend (ccx)
for doing the calculations. Please feel free to download this
nice piece of software from (tested on Indigo2, Octane under
6.5.22 but without any guarantee of features and usability
and accuracy of the results):

http://www.baigar.de/irix/CalculiX-1.7-bin.IRIX6.5.tardist

For details on CalculiX please visit the project's web page
at http://www.calculix.de/.

If you want to use the included help (which will reside in
/usr/freeware/doc/CalculiX, both as postscript and html) you
should set the following link after installing the tardist:

su ; cd /usr/local ; ln -s /usr/freeware/doc/CalculiX/ CalculiX
