The book most people recommend (and I'd concur) is "Cocoa Programming
for MacOS X" by Aaron Hillegass. It might be worth hanging fire,
though, because I suspect a new edition may be in the offing.

  Help with RegEx?

Author: SparkyGuy
Date: Jan 5, 2008 20:07

I want to build a regular expression that will find certain characters in a
field. For example:

i,n,t,u,o,n

all need to be present (at least once) for the RegEx interpreter to label
this search True. The order is not important, and case should be ignored.

I tried

[Ii][Nn][Tt][Uu][Oo][Nn]

and

[Ii].*[Nn].*[Tt].*[Uu].*[Oo].*[Nn]

No joy.

Also tried use of ^ and $ but I'm not sure how to implement them, and whether
or not they are required.

So basically I'm stumbling around in the dark. But I want to learn. I've
viewed several tutorials on-line, but this subject is so obtuse to me that
it's difficult even getting started.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  MODERATOR FOUND: comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

REPLACEMENT MODERATOR FOUND
comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

The Big-8 Management Board is pleased to announce that Kathy Morgan has
volunteered to robo-moderate the vacant newsgroup comp.sys.mac.programmer.info.

The new moderator will take over the duties on 26 Sep 2007.

HISTORY:

The newsgroup comp.sys.mac.programmer.info was created as part of a
re-organization of the comp.sys.mac.programmer (CSMP) hierarchy in
November 1994 that created CSMP.help, CSMP.info, CSMP.tools, and
renamed comp.sys.mac.programmer to CSMP.misc.

The comp.sys.mac.programmer (CSMP) sub-hierarchy had its origin with
the creation of comp.sys.mac.programmer in March 1988 (the 4th group
in the comp.sys.mac hierarchy). CSMP.codewarrior was added in August
1994. 3 groups, including CSMP.info were added in November 1994 (see
above). CSMP.games was added in October 1995.

There were generally 10 to 20 approvals per month in
comp.sys.mac.programmer.info, from its creation in November 1994 until
March 1999 (4-1/2 years). Over the last year, approvals were
infrequent (17 total), with the last in March 2000.

I am asking a serious question. When will those posts go
away?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It's annoying me as they are hindering my ability to see my REAL
posts.

I feel like infecting hip-crime with trojan horse that will steal all
their info -- including credit card numbers -- and give it to the rest
of the world. I want to burn hip-crime with oxyacetylene flames and
cause them grave-suffering. I want to burn the skins of whoever runs
hipcrime. I want to turn their skins into white foam by thermally-
denaturing their skins with oxyacetylene flames. I hope someone --
with less control over their anger than me -- sets hipcrime's
personnel on fire and gives them a slow, painful, yet sure way out of
existence.

  Moderator Vacancy Announcement: comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

Moderation Vacancy Announcement (MVA)
comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

This is a formal Moderator Vacancy Announcement (MVA), initiated after the
moderator of the above-listed moderated newsgroup has been found to be
absent. The goal of this process is to find a new moderator for the group.

DISCUSSION:

Kathy Morgan indicated her willingness to moderate the newsgroup, to
be hosted by Brian Edmonds on his Robomod site.

The last (current) moderators of comp.sys.mac.programmer.info stated
(by e-mail) that they were agreeable to Kathy Morgan becoming the
moderator.

My recommendation is that the moderatorship be transferred to Kathy
Morgan. If after some time, it is determined that the lack of
activity is due to a lack of submissions, rather than lack of someone
willing to approve submissions, the group may be removed.

  RFD: remove comp.sys.mac.programmer.info moderated

REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)
remove comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) to remove the moderated
newsgroup comp.sys.mac.programmer.info.

RATIONALE: remove comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

The last approved article was in March 2000. Over the last year year
of activity approvals were infrequent, with only 17 in the last 12
months.

Alternatively to removal, the group could be assigned a new moderator.
Kathy Morgan has volunteered to moderate if there is interest in
reviving the group.

As an announcement group, conversion to an unmoderated status is not
appropriate.
