Richard-

I'm not familiar with the G-85, but have had USB problems with a Beige
G3 MiniTower and a Wallstreet PB G3. It seems that the later USB
drivers in the Extensions folder didn't work for some devices. I'm
using a PCI USB adapter in the Beige G3, and a PCMCIA USB adapter card
in the Wallstreet.

My solution was to substitute older versions by trial and error until it
worked. Get-Info for my list of "good" extensions includes:

USB Device Extension version 1.5.6 (9.2.2)
USB Mass Storage Extension version 2.0.4 (USB Adapter Card Support)
USB Mass Storage Support version 2.0.4 (USB Adapter Card Support)
USB Software Locator version 1.5.6 (9.2.2)
USB Support version 1.4.1 (USB Adapter Card Support)

Other than the very first drivers being difficult I have never had any
trouble with my G85s.

So does sound like trouble with the USB interface on the G85.

Nevertheless you could try the Deskjet 970 cse driver instead?

Good luck,

Dave

I am having major headache with this combo.. USB finds NO device ..
have tried 3 versions of HP installers and several cables (just in
case..) and several different bilds of the various USB drivers ..

My current setup works well with other USB devices.. including several
printers with out trouble ..?!? and the G3/922 combo seems fine over
all.. (It works perfect for what I use it for...)

Any help mating the HP G85 would be appreciated!! TIA and Happy
Holidays!

  Canon S-500 network printing fails

Author: no-spam2

As the subject says I can't make my Canon S-500 print via my
home-network. That is, not from my Mac, while from the PC it works
flawlessly.
With the Mac (MacOS 10.4.8) I get a progress indication in the printer
dialog, but after a few seconds it just stops.

I've asked around and been told that I need a special printer driver
which supports IP printing, so I've installed and chosen the
Gutenprint/CUPS drivers
(http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3), and of course chosen
the Canon S-500 printer.

The printer is connected via USB to a Surecom EP-4904AX broadband
router/printer server
(http://www.surecom-net.com/pd-internet-4904ax_sx.htm).

What am I doing wrong?
