he claims he spent a lot of time googling it, but doesn't cite what he
found. specifically, he claims that interference robustness doesn't
work with non-apple base stations such as linksys, netgear, etc. and
that the frequency was not changed in later revisions of 802.11. both
are incorrect.
first, the simple one -- 802.11n adds the 5ghz band to the existing
2.4ghz band that 802.11b/g uses.
next, interference robustness deals with microwave oven interference.
lucent/orinoco/wavelan/agere/proxim/etc. (it seems the company changed
its name almost weekly) has a technote on what it does. they made the
original airport in addition to wifi cards for the masses, so it
clearly works with non-apple equippment.
