Hello. Is there a freeware encryptor software to encrypt my data files
like TrueCrypt?

Thank you in advance. :)

It's been a long long time since I used Jaguar, but I'm pretty sure
that Disk Utility could create encrypted disk images.

Is that on current HDD or do I have to make new partitions?

You can save disk images anywhere you want. A disk image is simply a
file, that mounts a volume as a virtual disk when you open it.

I use an encrypted one on my portable Macs to carry around sensitive
info like credit card numbers. Make sure you use a strong password!

Yes. You can store it in the encrypted disk image in case you forget
it.

Doug was being facetious, but never mind :-) Encrypted disk images made
in 10.2.8 will work just fine in any later version of OSX.

What are your wants and needs? I created an encrypted virtual drive
using OS X features. It was sufficient for my needs. One downside
is that I periodically need to copy it by hand, as I have it excluded
from my Time Machine (I don't want to back up anything that big just
because I changed one small file in it). Copying it to where Time
Machine picks up the copy gets me my backup.

I do the same thing with my Parallels VM. I've read that Outlook
stores everything in one file, which would be a bigger pain.
