Mac OS genealogy program that can handle Mills style reference formats

Author: John
Date: Jul 13, 2008 19:34

Some months ago I investigated products and decided Reunion
was a decent MacOS genealogy program.

I have since learned it is incapable of doing Elizabeth Shown
Mills reference styles. Its limited source definitions are
simply inadequate, and its custom sources require ","s between
fields, so that renders it impossible to do professional
Mills style sources references.

Is there a Mac OS genealogy product that is as enlightened
as TMG (The Master Genealogist which only works on Windoze
so I refuse to run or emulate it) for using Mills style
references?

Thanks, John

It's called an X-Face. Read about it here:

Search for X-Face in the online manual.

Is there some reason why checking the box labeled "Country" in the print
dialog doesn't work for you?

  Problem with Dashcode

Author: pcwiz
Date: Jul 13, 2008 13:25

OK, so I'm using the Dashcode that came with Xcode 3 for Leopard
(Dashcode 2.0 beta). The problem is this: I am trying to create just a
simple RSS widget for my site. I set the feed and attributes and hit
the Run button and this is what happens:

http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/7270/picture2ny4.jpg

There is no close button on the widget, just a useless blank widget
with nothing on it. The stop button doesn't work I end up having to
force quit Dashcode. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it a
problem with the app itself? This happens with any widget I make, not
just RSS widgets, everything results just in a blank widget, all it is
is a background with nothing on it. I have already tried reinstalling
just Dashcode.pkg from the dev tools DVD, and I have tried
reinstalling all of Xcode as well. Still doesn't work. Any help would
be appreciated. Thanks

PC can't send email via Airport

Author: Nndroid

Can I beg the group's help?

I run a PPC iMac OSX 10.5.4 and a PPC iBook 10.4 through a graphite
Airport and DLink DSL-502T router to use Virgin Net broadband. They
work fine for web, Mac Mail email, down- and up-loads... whatever.

My neighbour also connects to our Airport network for web and email.
She uses a Dell with Windows XP. She has full web access and can
receive emails of any size BUT as of about six weeks ago, she cannot
forward mails or send replies which are larger than a few words. We
have entered the correct account settings into Pegasus, Outlook
Express and now MSN Live Mail, all with the same result. I can recall
no significant change to the Airport or Router which took place six
weeks ago.

We have also spoken to Virgin Net who say they can see nothing wrong
with the account at their end. I also set up my own Virgin Net email
account (which works fine on my Macs) on her machine and got the same
result: can receive but can only send very very short replies.

This implies that the problem is either with the Airport or the
Router.

Parallels NAT is the network adapter that Parallels sets up to give the
virtual machine access to the internet through the IP address that Mac
OS X is using. It's called NAT, because just like a hardware router, it
uses network address translation to determine what packets arriving for
the Mac are to be redirected to the operating system running under
Parallels.

Guest Host is there to provide a completely private network between Mac
OS X and whatever OS is running under Parallels.

I have been using EyeTV for some time now (connected to Elgato video
capture hardware), and I've *never* seen the screen saver activate while
watching shows. Something must be different about your setup.
Obviously, you are using different video capture hardware. I wouldn't
think the hardware you are using would be the cause, but it's possible.
