I like Macs. I've rebuilt or repaired some old ones I found at thrift
stores, including a sweet little Color Classic, and I've got a 1984
Mac in the attic. What I don't understand is what makes a Mac laptop
cost at least twice as much as a Windows laptop.
Quality of finish?
Better system?
Better OS?
More durability?
Details, please; not Justin Long attitude.

I think it comes down to one thing: design. Quite simply, there's a
lot of care put into the design of a Mac. I'm not saying that they're
more durable than commodity PCs, or that the hardware is of better
quality. However, unlike a Dell or an HP, when you look at a Mac, you
know it's different. The casing is beautiful. It takes up only the
space it needs to. It feels good in your hands.

The pricing can be deceptive.
You can get a WinTel notebook for less but in general Apple notebooks
seem to be priced based on the cost of a *quality* WinTel notebook.

How much is your time worth is probably the overall answer. but ---
Not having to deal with viruses or pop-ups.
More productive since software works better, more consistent.
Far better resale value when you upgrade.
Less hardware problems, since the machine is totally engineered by one
company.

To pump up Apples bottom line. They are exactly the same as others costing
less than half as much.

Then why can't you buy a PC that equates to a Mac for even twice the
price? I think you are naive to make a comment like that.

I notice that "Macs" in the OP, has now morphed into "iMac".
Something your group is very adept at doing.
