And this surprises you?
This Oxford / Gene / Mark Thompson cretin is a true piece of work. Please
don't judge people in the USA by his idiocy.
There are quite a few Americans who are very familiar with the mobile
phone situation in the UK and elsewhere in the world. That doesn't mean
that we are wide-eyed fanboys of the UK's system -- caller-pays to a
mobile phone would never go over in the USA -- but we see the comparative
advantages and disadvantages fairly.
Contrary to Oxtard's rants, there is 3G in the US, particularly on Verizon
(although Verizon is CDMA based). iPhone in the USA is stuck on the USA's
worst network, AT&T. All of this stuff about 3G not being any good is
simply cover for AT&T being stuck in the past.

What do Army suicides have to do with Mac advocacy?

Sure we keep hearing about the iPhone and the iPod, oh, and
the Mac as well, but while we're fixated on where Apple's
products have been, a new study suggests where Apple's
products are going, and it can be summed up in one word: Mac.
Gartner is out with news today that shows Apple capturing 12
percent of the U.S. personal computer market by 2011, better
than double the market share the company enjoys today. Not
bad for a company that's spent the last three years doubling
its market share already.
...
Don't underestimate the power of the platform. Apple is no
longer a one-trick pony. It's got more momentum--whether the
stock reflects it or not--than just about anyone else in the
sector.
------
So much for the folks who said Apple was not going to focus on the Mac any
more and that is why they took the word "Computer" out of their name.

Hmmm, the article mentions relationship problems and long deployments as a
part of the reason... but does not mention the fact that the military must
know their Commander in Chief is a moron who goes against the Constitution.
If the media were really liberal they certainly would have pointed that
out...
