For those that no longer read the morning news paper, Times is a new
application that uses RSS sources to emulate an ordinary newspaper.
I seem to remember seeing such an application for classic MacOS as
well, but this one is a lot slicker. It really should have syndicated
comics as well and TV schedule to be really interesting.

Plus, it's a good example of a typical "cool Mac app", which you
pretty much never see in Windows. ("pretty much" added for reasonable
doubt, I've never seen any single cool app for Windows).

'Soon after Michele Goins became chief information officer at Juniper
Networks (JNPR) in February, she decided to respond to the growing
chorus of Mac lovers among the networking company's 6,100 employees. For
years, many had used Apple's (AAPL) computers at home and clamored for
them in the office as well. So she launched a test, letting 600 Juniper
staffers use Macs instead of the standard-issue PCs that run Microsoft's
(MSFT) Windows operating system. As long as the extra support costs
aren't too high, she plans to open the floodgates. "If we opened it up
today, I think 25%% of our employees would choose Macs," she says.'

'We're seeing more requests outside of creative services to switch to
Macs from PCs," notes David Plavin, operations manager for Mac systems
engineering at the U.S. IT division of Publicis Groupe, a global
advertising conglomerate. There are so many requests that Plavin now
supports 2,500 Macs across the U.S. -- nearly a quarter of all Publicis'
U.S. PCs.'

He uses a PC. The brand of the PC is irrelevant. Can you prove that
laptop is running OS X? Can you prove it's running Windows? Microsoft
doesn't sell any PCs other than the Media Center computers. So why is this a
Mac vs. PC issue since the Mac is just another PC now?
Some people will never learn.

Ok I must admit I haven't been paying much attention to the Mac world
as of late. It's pretty boring talking to the same kook zealots who can't
seem to learn.
I never really paid attention to the MacBook Air. Now as MushMan has
pointed out. The damned thing doesn't even come with a DVD/CD burner just
USB 2.0, Mini-DVI and a headphone jack. Apple says you can use another
computer's DVD/CD drive. Imagine that, a computer so advanced it has to use
somone else's DVD/CD drive.
Now the Mac kook zealot crowd will not realize that Apple is selling
them snake oil. $1800 bucks for a laptop with no DVD/CD drive. That is just
plain dumb. Boy how do I watch a movie on the plane or train? You have to
ask your neighbor to use his drive or do you go out and buy an external?
Well if you go out and buy an external drive, you've just negated the size
and portability issue. You've got to cary a bunch of stuff with you just to
achieve basic functionality. They could have made it an inch thicker adn put
a DVD/CD burner it.

What has happened to Hamster Boy? Has he made his usual insipid remarks to
any of your posts, now that he is a fan of yours?
Or is he sobbing in his pillow because he rightly feels unloved?

Back in 1997 Michael said that he would shut down Apple and give the
stockholders their money back. Today he has nothing to crow about: Apple
is worth Dell x 4!
Apple surpassed Dell in market value on January 13, 2006 at $72.13 bn vs
$71.97 bn.
On July 27, 2007 Apple's value was twice that of Dell's at $127.81 bn vs
$63.85 bn.
On December 6, 2007 Apple's value was tripled over Dell's at $165.66 bn
vs $54.42 bn.
On May 1, 2008 Apple's value was quadroubled over Dell's at $158.66 bn
vs $38.97.
Who is laughing now, Michael Dell?
