Hello all...
Louis, your NetVista is now running Windows 98. Oh...and I finally typed up
a procedure if anyone else wants to do the same.

Comments are welcome and might even be appreciated. :-)

Hello all! I remember hanging out here many years ago, collecting and
playing with the m-channel machines, and enjoying all of the knowledge and
wit in this group! I'm selling the building that all my old toys have been
housed in and need to find new homes for all. If there is anyone here near
Rocky Mount, NC (zip 27878) who would be interested in buying some of this
stuff, I will make every effort to give a great deal. I have several 8595's,
9595's, some 80's, other models, many many adapter cards, haven't even
looked at this stuff in years, much less have a current inventory, but I
will try to get one together as I clean things out. Any one here near me and
interested, call me at (two)5(two)-9 (eight) (five) 16 (ninety-six).

Hello all... (and Louis, if you're there...)
Looks like it is time to start on the great Pile of PS/2 Projects (as
I think I am going to call it). Considering the amount of time that I
have available now, I decided to start with something small and
relatively easy. A NetVista 8364 followed me home, and it has a 4GB
Hitachi CF Microdrive in it.
Windows 98 is allegedly working on this system. However, if Scandisk
runs, it finds an unfixable error involving the free disk space
report.
I intend to fix that. (I also want to see if a Microdrive reports
SMART data.)
Next up after that--what does XGA-206/208 do on a P75? I think I found
my preloaded Quantum SCSI HD that was in my P75 before it died...had
Windows 95 on it.
From there, I don't know...

Playtime. Sheer, unadulterated MCA abuse.
I decided to load up Firefox 2.0.0.14 and see what this thing will do.
NT Server 4.0, 4 processors cooking, a half gig of RAM.
Impressive. Not blinding fast, but quite usable - very responsive with
no noticable lags. Two processors showing higher than idle level
activity, one of them significantly so, but not pegging 100%% all of the
time like I would have expected from a computer of this vintage. And
that's throwing some web pages at it that were resource intensive enough
to choke Firefox after a while - but that was just Firefox, the OS
behind it was still perky as ever. This one's a keeper.
The bad news is that the planar SVGA is starting to flicker after
running for several hours. Super Dave, how big of a PITA is it to pull a
720 planar?
