As promised, here is a short executive summary of the review of Air
Assault Task Force on PC4WAR issue 27.
I liked the setup, somehow, even though modern is not my taste.
The 14 scenarios are varied. Different missions, different time,
different gears. Only playable from US side in solo though.
Real real time is nice, very nice.
Briefings are good and plays a role into players immersion (esp. the
Ia Drang one). But immersion stops as soon as the game screen
appears.
Ergonomy is at best utilitarian. Unit pictures can be barely seen
(example green US troops landing in Vietnam jungle...). Sound is very
limited and plays at an unpleasant rythm.
Differentiating from orders and tasks is good idea. It permit to fine
controlling your units.
Briefing and manual call for proper planning of your assault, full
force synchronization, complete coordination. Your transports are
fragile and you'll need to deploy close to the objective (but not too...
