When I was shutting down my box (917LX) for the night, I reached the
usual SHUT6 message -- when whammo(!) -- system failure.
Yes, a system failure AFTER the shut6 message.
Here is the info:
SYSTEM ABORT 653 Subsystem 143 (File System)
Secondary status Info = -300 (not in error manual)
Subsys = 107
System Halt 7, $028D
FLT DEAD at the bottom of the console.
So I restarted the system and everything came up just fine, shut it down in a
normal manner again and after the SHUT6 message this time -- no system failure.
This system failure happens to me every now and again, but not too often.
Does anyone have an idea what this system failure is?
TIA,
Brian Donaldson.

The only time I have seen the error message:
"MPE FILE ERROR 0 RETURNED BY FREADDIR ON ROOT FILE"
is when I had dynamic expansion turned on Master datasets (MDX)
Do not use it (MDX) -- it is buggy and causes this problem every time.
(None of the >master data sets is enabled for dynamic expansion.) -- better
check that again.
Brian.

Hi Walter,
The problem may be in the automatic master.
Couple of questions.
Do you have enough space in the automatic masters?
What kind of fields do they hold, ASCII or packed fields, sorted packed
fields may be a cause.
Is the autoamatic master field signed or unsigned, if it is unsigned
does it hold signed values, specially duplicates?
Can you isolate the problem by dividing the QTP run in different parts,
add, update and delete and see where the problem is happening, in
deletes or adds?
You may have such problem when you handle duplicate signed data in
the automatic master where the field is not defined as signed.
Just my thoughts,
Krikor

Walter,
Couple questions and a guess.
What version of TurboImage do you have? The easiest way to tell is with QUERY, the command is VER.
You do know PP5 is out, if you need a tape, let me know, HP sent me 11 copies of it. (I have no idea why, I did request 1 tape)
Second, when "fixing" the corruption, do you also go through the extra step of removing the delete chain? I am sure you know that removing the delete chain requires a repack.

hello,
I have these commands in a qdesign screen:
SUBSCREEN STCHECK.PUB ID SAME NOLABEL &
CLEAR ALL MODE E PASSING USER-NAME
COMMAND "STREAM ACPPOST.JOB" ID SAME NOLABEL &
CLEAR LINE 24 RESPONSE
What I really need to do is evaluate the return from the subscreen
and If they did not exit then stream the command.
Is there a way to modify the COMMAND line to evaluate and only
launch the job if the F8 or Shift+6 is not returned from the subscreen?
thanks and merry christmas!
bob

Roy, they already have that information as well as where I shop, what I buy,
how often, where I live, my financial information including all credit
cards,, children's details, car details, insurance, dentist, Doctor, email,
websites in fact....that isn't much about me that isn't on a database
somwhere or in several soon to be amalgamated databases.
Well, there are a couple of things, but I'm not telling about them... :o)
Cheers,
John Dunlop

Hi all,
I have used VBA with excel extensively but I am brand new to
Reflection. I need to make a decision based on the foreground color
of some text. Basically in pseudo code
If foreground color is white then
some code here
End if
But I dont know how to test what the foreground color is.
The help section has something like object.foreground color .... but I
need something more specific than the object.
Thanks
