  Trying to contact Armclub

Author: Robert Heaton
Date: Jul 21, 2008 13:27

Hello,

I've been trying to contact the Armclub, regarding the availability of
StrongGuard, I e-mailed them a few days ago, but I've not had a reply.

I also e-mailed them a few weeks ago regarding ArcFS availability,
however I didn't receive a reply then either.

I tried disabling my spam filter, in-case that was to blame, I've also
checked my junk mail folder too.

The address I've used is - sales@armclub.org.uk
Can anyone confirm the Armclub is still active?

Thanks,
Rob.

I've just received a communication from this company which claims that
I could get an income tax refund of up to £945. My instinct is not to
touch this with a bargepole. As I see it I could only offset the loss
against other capital gains to reduce cgt if I'm over the threshold,
and I could claim this directly from HMRC rather than paying another
company to do it.

I assume that other shareholders have been contacted by this outfit.

  Chuckie Egg

I have just set up my BBC computer for my grandchildren.
My son sat down to play Chuckie Egg and on his first game for over 20
years got to level 22 with a score of 270,230!

He is now 39, so it shows how many hours he must have wasted playing it
as a schoolboy!

Somehow lost it's place in your !Boot loaders?

Something similar may have very recently happened
to me with !Organizer.

Line looked ok in !Boot.Boot.Run - but on wiping
and replacing the line afresh, the problem was
resolved. Organizer now back to health.. :))

No idea why, though..

  Downloading and editing digital photographs.

I have just bought an Olympus Stylus 840 digital camera. It shows nice
pictures on its monitor screen. I want to use the photos to illustrate
points in a document but unfortunately it downloads in RAW format and
the Olympus Master 2 software that goes with it is completely
useless on my Dell PC.

But before I started this project I heard that there was RISC program
which could do this kind of work. What is it? And would it work on my
old RISC PC 600 which hasn't got a USB port?

  Southampton User Group

Author: Louie

Hello All,

As many, but not all will know, the Southampton User Group will not be able
to meet at our usual place of the Itchen College in August as it is closed.
I'm more than willing to hold the meeting at my house (with tea!!!) if
people are interested, however I live in Portsmouth, not Southampton. Can
people just share their thoughts on this, and if it's popular, I'll confirm
it by a formal announcement on csa.announce.

Let me know what you think.

Kind regards,

Louie

  Advent/MS Wind netbook

Author: jettons

I have just bought an Advent 4211 netbook from PCWorld for 279.99
pounds. This mini-laptop is a virtually identical rebadge of the MSI
Wind.

With Aaron Timbrall's advice - as usual first rate - it was very easy
to install a new copy of Virtual RiscPC Adjust SA; see
http://www.jettons.co.uk/Advent/ for an image and details.

I'm finding it's working beautifully. Virtaul RiscPC is running at
(roughly) the same speed as the processor it's emulating - very
satisfactory on a machine this size. I've not had so much fun in
years!

Cheers

Follow 'Info' on Zap's iconbar menu and then click 'Modes'. You'll then
get a Throwback window showing all the modes currently loaded together
with the module supplying them. You should see Text, Byte, Word, ASCII,
Code, HalfWord, DoubleWord and Throwback are provided by 'core', the Zap
module itself.

ZapText is 'a central repository for text-related Zap extension
commands' and not tied to any particular mode. As above, text mode is in
core.
