I know it's rude just to show up to pimp my own ebay auction, but this
is a once in a lifetime offering. You will not see the likes of this
again, believe me. Someone give this a good home and keep it running,
since I'm out of space and time. (For the curious, this is what I used
to recreate the 30-level Blaster ROMs a while back...well, this and a
whole bunch of my time and puzzle-solving abilities!)

I'll work with you to get it moved across country, wherever it needs to
go. I've owned enough pinball machines, video games, and vintage
computers to know how that's the tricky part, but we can always come up
with something.

  Serial programming on OS9000

Author: pgr
Date: Aug 17, 2008 14:08

Hi, I am trying to port an existing Linux program to OS9000 (PPC) by
using Microware's Ultra Compiler Version 2.9. The original Linux code
uses "termios.h" which uses the function "open" to open the port. I
guess I have to replace "/dev/ttyS" with "/t" here.

What do I have to use instead of the "termios.h" functions like
"tcgetattr" and "tcflush"? My MWOS directory does not offer these but
does contain headers for "old style" function "ioctl". There is no
standard API for this function, so there are quite a lot of variants
out there [1]. I have problems identifying the acutal API contained in
MWOS and finding the needed constants and structures to use with this
variant of "ioctl", e. g. TIOCFLUSH and sgttyb.

Can somebody help me?

Old version of OS/9 help needed

Author: Michael.E.Landon

I could use some help/advise about OS/9 x86 version 2.1. It's a long
story but I will try to give as short version as possible.

Back about 10 years ago, the company I work for had a control system
that used OS/9000 (as it was called at that point) on a x86 PC. It was
only used on a few systems before it was abandoned (MicroWare couldn't/
wouldn't support us like we needed and Linux was quickly becoming a
better alternative). The co-owner who developed it was the only person
who knew the OS, and he died about 5 years ago without leaving much
information for us to go on.

One of the remaining systems had a hard disk failure a couple weeks
ago. They had a backup of their data, but not the OS. I cannot seem to
figure out how to even get an installation of OS/9(000) running on a
computer, and all the current and former employees who ever worked
with it remember was there were some really quirky things that had to
be done to get it to install (to our knowledge, only the dead guy ever
succeeded in that). We have a couple sets of installation disks
(versions 1.4 - 2.1), none of which will complete the installation (I
was able to get a hold of a computer of the same brand and series as
the original installation used, so it should work).

  Problems using a Flashdisk

Author: j.marstatt

Hi Group,

I'm using a B&R device with OS9. I try to install a new 512MB IDE
Flashdisk. But everytime I try to access the device I get following
error: Error #000:102 bus trap. A other 256MB module works fine.
Does anyone know a solution for this problem?

  How format scsi HDD... help!

Author: Jaroslaw.Pakiela

I use the system in my work OS-9 / 68K v2.4 on processor 680030. The
system is loaded from the station of floppy disks /d0hd. I connected
the disc HDD scsi. The system recognizes him as /h0, but the mistake
returns me near the test of formatting: 000:255. Unfortunately, I do
not have the tool DMODE which will let me alter the descriptor
allowing to format this disc in this compilation. How I can format the
disc HDD, without this tool? I know that walks about the resetting one
bit in the module RBF. Which? Is it maybe the possible hand edition
hex, the module RBF and renewed loading to the memory?

  OS-9 Port

Author: Keefsk

Microware, Germany kindly let me have a evaluation version of OS-9 via
a download and I want to try this on the new EEE-PC from Asus which
should be a perfect platform for OS-9000. The problem is that the
distribution from Microware only includes drivers for standard PC
devices and the EEE-PC doesn't support a standard floppy, has a solid
state disk and has a new ethernet chip from Atheros (L2), furthermore
there are no standard serial ports as such. So the problem is how do I
format the solid state "IDE" drive on the EEE-PC?

I can produce a bootable floppy with coreboot, boot and bootfile and
when I use a USB floppy drive connected to the EEE-PC I get as far as
the boot menu. However I can't boot over kermit - no serial ports;
can't boot over ethernet - don't have a driver for the Atheros L2 and
am probably not capable of writing one; can't boot using a PCMCIA
device - the EEE-PC doesn't support PCMCIA; and can't continue to boot
from floppy since the booter is written only to work with an on board
floppy controller and not a USB floppy.

I have included the support for USB in my boot image but the boot menu
doesn't offer this as an option.
